Cardiff Away

What was all that about? That was bloody riduculous, whats with the pre drawn teams that could have been rigged for all we know. What a crap draw,Cardiff away cheers.Talk about the draw being stacked against the non seeded teams. There wasn't even any pattern to the pre drawn teams 3 were at home then 1 away. What a carry on,very disappointing.

i dont agree with teams being seeded i think thats a giant pile of steaming donkey muck

the great thing about English cup competitions is that fact that occasionally a small team gets a big team to come and visit and they get a big full stadium and make a bit of cash...they may if they are very lucky even win the game ...thats whats so great about the FA cup

no problem with the big teams comming in on the 2nd or third round but for gawds sake throw all the numbers in a hat and pull em out....first one out is the home team second one out is who they play...easy really
just another way for the sponsors to keep the money where they want it , in the prem ....part of me wants town to reach those heights another part of me is afraid we might actually do it

With maybe the exception of going to Millwall the worst tie available. Play the second eleven, no point risking anyone in this silly cup with it's daft rules.

It should still be regionalised at this stage. It would be far better to play a local team than the trek to Wales.

agreed...if it was just a straight draw then fair enough you get what "the gods" give you.. this draw was ridiculous and complicated and favours the seeded teams to some tune.. be ok if non seeded teams were given a couple of goals start, might make it more interesting??

the competition has just become a mikey mouse money maker for its sponser and the premiership ...might as well do away with it all together in my opinion

Swansea away would have been worse than Cardiff! Still I felt sorry for Morecombe when they drew Millwall

I have no problem with seeding as such, that guarantees the 'smaller' teams a good fixture..but what i do disagree with is the fact that we were designated an away game no matter what.

That to me is totally ridiculous, particularly when there is no regionalisation catered for in the draw. The carling cup is a midweek cup, and to expect fans to traips to the other end of the country on a tuesday or wednesday night, many after doing a days work, is totally wrong.

We should treat the competition with the same disrespect and do what Blackpool and wednesday did last night, send an Academy side to cardiff, and tell the organisers that we don't give a chuff about their stupid rules.

I don't necessarily think the competition should be done away with but it could do with a bit of re-organisation.

Firstly there is no reason why the first round games couldn't be played on the Saturday before the league season starts.Crowds would be larger, easier for away fans and its a competitive match to sharpen the players for the following week rather than a friendly.

Secondly the 2nd round should be regionalised as Cardiff away has done us no favours whatsoever.I'm sure Cardiff and their fans aren't overly thrilled by it either.I'd have rather have played Doncaster than Cardiff.

......and no doubt tomorrow we'll be drawn away at Northampton in the JPT tomorrow just to cap it off!!!

Tomorrow is gonna be Bradford or a Sheffield club!

Lets hope so Inter as we always end up with crap draws in the cups!!!A little something to get us semi excited about,Bradford is a must now Jacko is in charge.

arterrier, some good points there, esp making the first round a saturday pre-season fixture.
2nd round shud be regionalised, given the gates for these games barely get above the 3,000 level.
With the JPT coming up soon, then in Dec the FA Cup, plus 46 league games..it's basically becoming 2 games a week now..and with the ensuing salary cap playing squads are going to reduce inevitably leading to more injuries and suspensions..

Terrible draw, no way will I be venturing down there on a Tuesday night to watch us get thumped in a cup competition I couldn't care less about! A nice local(ish) tie or a glamour tie would have been great, Cardiff away was pretty much a worst case scenario.

At least we've got home games either side of cardiff away..it could have been hartlepool away on Aug 20th, Cardiff away Aug 23rd then Carlisle or Colchester away on 27th..but it isn't..so thankfull for small mercies..

Terrible draw, it is all a joke, until the lower league team gets to host the higher league team I will have no respect for the draw.

Who makes the rules, the FA, the Football League or Carling...?

I didn't even know, before the draw came on, that we had been designated as an away team...sort of took the gloss of it but I thought well mebee a local derby..yep, bloody trip to a foreign country.

i end up shouting at the telly .... what a sh@t draw and turned tv straight off bed bound. haha

I'd imagine Carling would have little input unless there is some contractual agreement, my reasoning is that I am sure there are a number of other companies that would be happy to add their name to the sponsorship of such a high profile competition.
