ReyesUsed to be my favorite player. His career is a tragedy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah agree. He wasted his career. Its sad to see. He was a brilliant footballer.
Someone already mentioned Song and I agreed, he has to be up there. Going from regular starter, hardly subbed to a bench warmer who play no more than 15 minutes per game and that it is when he plays at all.
GT, it's naive to suggest players don't leave to win trophies.
Darren, you are talking of professional footballers and I dont believe in kissing the badge of your club.
Ten years maximun on a high level to earn much money you can is all that matters. If you winning trophies at your club its good and your career is even more a success.
They are only a few exceptions from the rules. That is what I believe.
Winning trophies is the pinnacle of football. Of course money matters but it's not the only reason players leave to go to bigger clubs. That's ridiculous.

Its often it gets together. If you were offer more money it means you move to a bigger club and yes sometimes it pays off and you win something.
the clubs winning trophies are usually the richest clubs, it's both linked.
But the point is that players will want to move to a bigger club to improve their chances of winning trophies.
They get money as well. It's a duel motivation. Sometimes one will be a more motivating factor than the other. However, to suggest they don't move for trophies and only move for money is bôllocks.
Anzhi, Monaco, PSG, City, Chelsea shows players will move for money.
I said that money is the first motivation for moving (with exceptions) and not winning trophies as RVP suggest was the reason to leave. Its up to you being a romanticist.
8bit, but I never said that players don't move for money. Just that it's not the only motivating factor.
It's not a case of being romantic. Money is part if the game but doesn't mean it's the first motivation.
You say it's a myth players move for trophies which is blatantly bôllocks.

Wrong. Its your opinion.
Yes and it's my opinion that your opinion is bôllocks.
Most players leave for both money and success. I mean, what would sound more appealing to say somebody like Nasri. Earn £80K a week and win nothing or earn £150K a week and win trophies?
Hleb was an idiot. I'm glad he flopped. Hard everything going for him and suddenly hilariously started agitating for a move to Barca. Brain-dead mug.
I was not Reyes' biggest fan. He had his moments but he simply didn't live up to the hype or price tag and couldn't wait to leave Arsenal for Madrid (another deluded mug like Hleb who overrated himself)
Nasri does sadden me. I liked him and thought he could make it here but he was turned by City's money and ambitions. The guy is earning £185k a week ffs. He and his agent were never going to reject that when Arsenal wouldn't even offer him 100k a week.

"Oh and Reyes....only if he was mentally tougher, right now he would be up there with Ronaldo and Messi. Always thought he was more of a talent than Ronaldo was."
50p are you serious?
Greed, Bats. As I said, it's a duel motivation. Depending on the player one factor will be more important than another. Money always coming first isn't true.
Speaking of Nasri there's a watch the Talksport video made about his love for money. It's brilliant.

You might be right when you think of clubs like ManU and Chelsea. But young players moving to the Russian league or and to a certain extend the French league only moved mainly for the money and money has been the prime factor
Such a deluded comment.
Worse than Sir Paisley's Suarez comment.
His comment is right tbh, Reyes was the highest rated Spanish player and they thought he would be one of the best in the world. nobody thought Ronaldo would reach that level but he just had crazy dedication.
No his comment is ridiculous.
When Reyes came to Arsenal he was better and more talented than Ronaldo.
Fact is Ronaldo had ambitions to become the very best in the world and worked his bollox off to be where he is today.
Maybe Reyes would not be at Ronaldo's level if he worked as hard because physically he was nowhere near him but he could definitely have been one of the best.
