Nostalgia fix

Another really good article written with an empathy towards real football supporters (not premiership). I was thoroughly enjoying the read until this:

A midweek League Cup tie against lower level opposition provided the chance to get back to winning ways and it was taken with a comfortable 3-0 home win over Southend with goals from Don Rogers, Bill Atkins and Mike Summerbee, setting up a third round tie with First Division West Ham, who we were to play three times that season.

Thanks a bunch Don, Only kidding, git!!

Well mate, I have been on that site & I can't find it. Mind you, I am an old git & just getting the computer started is an effort.

I think the site has been updated since I last visited but I think you will find that the link above covers all of Don's articles to date.

We have all reached that point my friend. That's why they have 'search' boxes at the bottom right of the web page, to help us ancients out.

I know, nobody loves a smart ar5e!!

Red, no-one could pick a player like Danny, the value for money he got was incredible, £5K each for Joey Butler, Stan and Peter Downsborough. He only ever signed one turkey, Brian Richardson from Sheffield United who was absolutely awful. Do you remember Tommy Henderson, signed at the same time as Richardson, a dwarf Scottish winger who scored a screamer on his debut, can't remember who against.

To all my nostalgia readers (and I know there are at least two of you) in future I'll put the text of each month's article on here as well. I need to keep my readership up.

Hull City, January 1966 (I cheated and looked it up!)

Chaps, nothing whatsoever to do with Swindon & nostalgia, but I'm sharing a thread from Shrimpers Zone because it shows the talent that exists amongst ordinary supporters. Whilst it's not up to washbag standard it is a very amusing read even if you don't follow SUFC. It's a series of cartoon strips featuring the playing staff, manager and chairman of the club. Ignore all the thread responses and concentrate on the cartoons for best(and quickest) effect. Look out for Timlin featuring throughout.

Don,
I was at that game when Henderson scored. The only winger that looked wider than he was tall!
The only winger I have seen that was smaller, was, one Willie Gomersal who played for Bradford PA in the early 70s. A new signing, the local guys thought he must be tricky for someone so small to be signed. Anyway, PA got a rare corner. A young boy in front of me shouted "He can't kick it that far" Absolutely right as it turned out. I don't think he ever played again for them.
