I see a lot of people calling for Mata to start but they seldom indicate who they would drop to make this happen. As you say Oscar is better, Schurrle is scoring for club and country now and if Hazard wasn't playing people would start Hazard must play threads.

Say My name - Do we really need a goalie? I say we play Sweeper Keeper and shove Mata into the team.

play him next to Rambo instead of Lampard

Mata should of course start over Schurrle Say My Name if he did.

The title winning midfield:

--------Ramires--------------------
--------------------Oscar-----------

----------------Mata-------------------
Willian-------------------------Hazard
----------------Torres---------------

For those of you, who can't think outside the box, about this set-up...Jose had already said that Oscar could play next to Ramires, in one of his previous interviews about the whole Mata saga.

I won't be surprised, this set-up is being worked on in training sessions.
With Oscar's energy, strength, tackling and passing range...he'll flourish in that position, next to Ramires.

It's basically like having 2 no. 10's in the middle...who said you can't eat your cake and have it?

He also said Oscar is Brazil's no 10 and for those who can't think outside the box do you really think Jose is going to play Oscar out os position in a world cup year when he is playing so well for us in his natural position........

I would be surprised...........
‘Oscar is my No 10 and, if somebody tells me that Oscar is not Chelsea’s best player since the beginning of the season, I would have to disagree,’ said Mourinho.

He was asked, is it up to Mata to dislodge Oscar?
‘Yes.’ Can’t they play together? ‘They can, when he adapts to it.’

Mourinho explained he wants Brazil’s No 10 to be Chelsea’s No 10 and the others will have to fit in around him, including Mata.
‘It is one thing to play with Ramires and Oscar in the side, with them closing each side and Mata as a No 10, with clever passes, fantastic actions, because he has great talent.

‘It is another thing to adapt to the way we want to play. I am not ready to play with Oscar following full backs to the end of the earth.

'I want Oscar as my No 10 and I want the other two players from the sides to adapt to that and learn how to do things they were not ready to do before.’

A nice problem for him to have.

Biggish...he doesn't have to tell us about Oscar being Brazil's no.10, we have eyes, and we already know.

Jose was just trying to work out the possibility of playing both Oscar and Mata.
And FYI...Oscar playing in that position in a couple of games, wouldn't make him any less of Brazil's no. 10...it will only highlight his versatility and improve his game.
Like I previously said...some people just can't think outside the box!
You obviously fall into that category!

No he hasn't. He said very clearly that Oscar was his No10.

Because i don't share your opinion? ok then.

Let me put this to you, have you considered how very different playing in that deep midfield position is?

Have you considered the very different requirements the player must meet playing in that position without the ball, all I ever see from people making this Oscar claim is how good he will be in that role with what he does with the ball but without the slightest consideration of what he needs to do without the ball...

He would have to learn so much so quickly to play in that role and it takes a long time, it would be totalo madness and luckily Jose is not mad, he may play him there in an emergency situation, but he won't play him there as part of his strategy and thank goodness for that.

Biggish

It isn't going to happen. Jose made that very very clear already. Some people can't accept reality.

This Mata must play issue has gone beyond a joke now.

To be so obsessed with an individual player rather than the team is something I can't get my head round, especially when people make up false claims to justify the position like the team performs better when Mata plays and we are more offensive when Mata plays....................show me the evidence?

Sad thing is I love Mata, great player and great person but this blind love for him is just beyond rational thought.

Oscar is already good without the ball, hence; my reason for trying him out in that position.

Think about it...if Lampard in his mid 30's can adjust, and play well in that position, who is far inferior to Oscar at the moment...why not Oscar, who is a better footballer than Lampard?

We can make excuses for Oscar not being able to adjust his game in that position, but the truth of the matter, is that he has the characteristics to do a decent job there, and improve the team generally.

Players like Modric, Xavi etc, who are all quality no. 10's, have played slightly deeper, yet; they flourished without much fuss.

It's not like anyone is suggesting that Oscar should be the sole holding midfield general...now, that would be asking too much.

I agree Biggish, the team is the thing that matters. We've just won 6 consecutive games so I'll go with Jose's decisions thanks very much.

Moving your best player out of position is a ridiculous suggestion. Don't think I know anyone who doesn't like Mata but that doesn't mean he's better for the team.
To even suggest you know better than a manger like Jose is quite frankly embarrassing.

posted on 30/10/13

Lampard has years of experience in comparison to Oscar and Oscar's requirements without the ball in the midfield 3 is completely different than when playing in the midfield.

There is no evidence to suggest he can play in the midfield 2 but plenty of evidence that he has been better than Mata this season in the no 10 role, we can make exzcuses for Mata but the fact is Oscar has been better..........

You must either be high on something, or you're reading the wrong thread.
Where did I make any comment, indicating that Jose is wrong in his team selection, or something similar?

I made reference to what Jose suggested, about the possibility of playing Oscar slightly deeper.
You must be deluded, for making such ridiculous allegation against me!
