But why allow him to join a direct rival?
Surely others were interested.

He wanted to stay in London. Much like luiz and cech. Fair play to him. Willian may help arsenal get top 4. Chelsea, maybe not this year, but over the next few, are aiming for higher

He became a free agent so nothing Chelsea could do to stop him from choosing Arsenal over other clubs
