Yeah the penalty shootout, Darren.
World class Woodman kept the Dutch at bay.
Most of these players will be in the championship in a few years time.

Or both
Adam Armstrong will be leading the line for us within 2 years.
Andy, that stresses my point.
Lined that up nicely for you didn't I
Ed Malyon @eaamalyon 43s
Hate to rain on everyone's snark but we've always produced good youth players. Problem is - as per FA report - developing them between 18-21
2nd time since 2010 we've won this tournament.
Yeah pretty much.
Andy, yeah people forget we do well at youth level.
That's why I said most of these players will end up in the championship, or lower.
Look at the 2010 winning team and I think there are only a few playing in the prem.

Squad from then
Berahinhio, Wickham and Barkley only ones to really do anything in PL
Barkley the only member of the 2010 winning side with a shout of making the world cup
Butland has been to a major international tournament with England
And they are still only 20, when did chances end at 20?

@youthhawk: #EnglandU17s v Netherlands: Woodman, Kenny, Taf.Moore, Gomez, Tay.Moore, Ledson, Onomah, Cook, Solanke, Roberts, Brown.
Solanke has 3 goals in 3 games

4 in 4
Think the most important conclusion you can draw from repeated success/good performances at U17 level is that it suggests good depth in the youth system, which in turn increases the likelihood of enough of them coming good at the top level to form a strong national side.
It's also worth remembering that this is an annual competition, so you can only really start to draw 'generational' conclusions over a series of years rather than on one good year and little else. The most consistent sides over the past few years have been the Netherlands, Germany and England. I'd expect this to be filtering through to the national side over the next few years and for its effect to be most noticeable towards the end of the decade.
Two intriguing games today...
First up the strong looking Brazil squad face a South Korean team who do well at Youth levels.
Then the mighty English take on what may be the nucleus of the 2022s host-nation, Qatar, team.
Interesting.
