Christian Eriksen is awake and will have further tests in hospital, report the Danish FA.
The match is postponed and a further update will come at 19:45.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s good. Didn’t actually think he was gonna make it out alive when CPR shot was shown.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's when I broke down, too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same. Horrible feeling in my stomach and trying to tel my gf what had happened as she was upstairs and my voice started to wobble.
The odds are so ridiculously low for out of hospital cardiac arrests.

I assume Belgium game might be off too? Personally I think it feels right for no more football today but we’ll see.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't see any reason not to play that, tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it’s fair, I understand if it goes ahead. I think personally would give it a day, but no criticism from me if it does. Perhaps ideally it should be done to the players and manager and how they feel.

to the medics, absolutely incredible work in a very tough situation
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I missed the incident and I’m glad I did, but it sounds like the medical team did a great job and it sounds like he’s out of the woods a bit, which is absolutely fantastic.
This sort of thing tends to happen too frequently. Surely there must be some ways to catch the likelihood of this in pro atheletes by now? Some sort of possible indicator whether there is a risk?

Might not be a popular opinion but I think with the news that he’s stable then there’s no reason to postpone the next game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I think that's reasonable. Obviously if the worst had happened I don't think anyone would care about the other games
Gonna have to find a time to reschedule this game which is difficult enough. Monday?

Fair enough
Belgium-Russia will go ahead
Nieve Pegg @StuntPegg
So much respect for the Danish players taking it upon themselves to shield Eriksen from the parasites wanting a shot. What a horrible greedy world we live in that a man has collapsed with his wife watching and there are people who’s first thought is to profit from it in some way.
Are any of the Belgium/Russia players teammates or friends of Eriksen. Could understand if they weren’t in the right state of mind to play it. I wouldn’t be.

I'm sure a few spurs players play for Belgium along with Lukaku his Inter TM.

Yeah I was just thinking would I wanna go and play Saturday league after that? I have no link to him and I was in tears and still a bit shaken.
If you've played with the guy before it must be really difficult to get yourself together
The ref was quick to spot. It was also a great and powerful reaction from the Danish team with the ring around him.
It made me think more about the broadcasters camera thing. I understand it’s soon after the situation so tensions high but I think they got caught up very quickly in a very serious situation and just didn’t know what to do. For example when I think about it, in hospital when someone collapses, even if someone has a cardiac arrest, people do just stand and watch. Its a viscera and quite human thing to do, stay frozen to the spot. Hence why they’re quick to get privacy screens in those situations.

The word ‘hero’ does get thrown around far too freely these days. But anyone in this kind of work, with the responsibility it brings, are certainly worthy of the tag. Especially when you consider how relatively poorly they’re paid.

See I just don’t agree with the view that the broadcasters are some evil entity in an office at that point, licking their lips and ordering staff to get the best shots for their own perceived gratification..I think they’re probably just as traumatised as us and didn’t know what to do.

Its good that he is stable. I watched the video and it took them nearly 2 minutes from when he collapses to commencing chest compressions. You should start compressions as soon as somebody has irregular breathing, even if they're conscious.
