When are the FA and co going to appoint an attacking manager?

Why? Get the disappointment out of the way, enjoy watching the better teams left in it, at least we won't go out on penalties!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because no matter how useless they are, a tournament with England is always more engaging for English fans than a tournament without them. Euro 2008 was a decent tournament, but the lack of England meant I felt distanced from it. Hopefully the rest of the World Cup will be continue to be decent and we'll soon forget about this disappointment.

The reason we lost both games is because we went too attacking if anything.

The FA should be held to account for appointing Roy Hodgson instead of the people's choice, Harry Redknapp.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Redknapp would have been a total disaster
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. He was gna appoint Rodgers as his assistant to help him out.
But he knew what was wrong with England (controlling a game)..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Redknapp, control a game?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He would've appointed Rodgers who's very good at controlling games..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He controlled that match against Palace superbly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One matchWe needed to win by 15 goals
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cardiff 3-6 Liverpool
Norwich 2-3 Liverpool
Liverpool 4-3 Swansea
Stoke 3-5 Liverpool
Hardly controlled? 100 mph football that gets taken apart at international level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We won those.
Also we conceded so much because we went all out attack against these teams (who park the bus).
When we needed to control matches we did. Vs united, City, Spurs, Everton, Chelsea, etc.. all teams that could hurt you with attacking players, we controlled games and conceded very little.
International tournaments are always better without England.
Now maybe BBC and ITV will concentrate on the games they are covering instead of boring us with England 'news'

Yes you won those games, but you can't say you had control. And if they are parking the bus, surely you haven't had control if Stoke, Cardiff and Swansea are scoring 3 by parking the bus.
Btw this i'm not trying to slate Liverpool, as your approach last season was very refreshing. It's just that it is the sort football we try at international level and lose to teams who control matches.

European nations are struggling in the second round of games... With fixtures coming thick and fast the conditions are taking their toll while the Americas seem to grow stronger.
People were trying to down play the South American nation always win in SA, but maybe it is becoming clearer.

Yeah I agree on that. My main gripe with Hodgson is that everything seems to be trial and error.
In some respects you could say he's been unlucky that Sterling, Lallana, Barkley have all come good this season so he hasn't had time to mould an identity.
But you have to look at other sides this World Cup, who've got a shared philosophy and tactics that they've been playing with for ages.
For instance, Chile played the same style in the last World Cup. Suddenly their group have matured and they are a big threat. Argentina have played with a 4-3-3 to get the best out of Messi.
We enter the tournament not knowing where our supposedly 'best player' should be playing in the team. We line up with Sterling in a central role when we've never even tried it before.
Rooney plays on the left and we expose Baines. We could have found that out in a friendly, but instead experiment in the first match of a World Cup.

Maybe, but I think Germany must be favourites after their demolition of Portugal.
Let's see how Germany get on when they face a South American side.
And to be fair, I was more impressed by France... Let's see how France do now.

Every side has that problem, not just England. He had enough friendlies and qualifying games to create a style of play/identity. He's been here for 2 years+.
He's just confused and doesn't know how to utilise the attacking firepower.
The likes of Chile, USA, Italy have all changed managers and haven't spent years experimenting.

Yep. The Brazil side doesn't look great at the moment, but you could even use them as an example. Scolari has known for a year how they would line up and what players he trusts.
We just chop and change between matches, hoping our team will suddenly click.

England try to play like Liverpool did last season, are you on crack or something, ridiculous comment. First of all totally different formation, no pressing of the ball, no ability to alter tactics (something BR does all the time)
We play 433 or a diamond, seriously do yo uhonestly think England play like we did last season? Chile for example play a similar style to what we did, but England??? Lay off the pipe lad

European nations are struggling in the second round of games... With fixtures coming thick and fast the conditions are taking their toll while the Americas seem to grow stronger.
People were trying to down play the South American nation always win in SA, but maybe it is becoming clearer.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe, but I think Germany must be favourites after their demolition of Portugal.

Let's see how Germany get on when they face a South American side.
And to be fair, I was more impressed by France... Let's see how France do now.

When are the FA and co going to appoint an attacking manager?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The reason we lost both games is because we went too attacking if anything.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
When defensive manager tries to play attacking football it's never going to work.

I think we'll see what France are made of a bit more tonight. Can't judge them on a game against the worst team in the tournament.

Yep. The Brazil side doesn't look great at the moment, but you could even use them as an example. Scolari has known for a year how they would line up and what players he trusts.
We just chop and change between matches, hoping our team will suddenly click.

Agree. Let's judge France after they played their second game. Looked a balanced team but opponent was to weak.

The FA should be held to account for appointing Roy Hodgson instead of the people's choice, Harry Redknapp.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Redknapp would have been a total disaster
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. He was gna appoint Rodgers as his assistant to help him out.
But he knew what was wrong with England (controlling a game)..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Redknapp, control a game?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He would've appointed Rodgers who's very good at controlling games..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He controlled that match against Palace superbly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
One matchWe needed to win by 15 goals
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cardiff 3-6 Liverpool
Norwich 2-3 Liverpool
Liverpool 4-3 Swansea
Stoke 3-5 Liverpool
Hardly controlled? 100 mph football that gets taken apart at international level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We won those.
Also we conceded so much because we went all out attack against these teams (who park the bus).
When we needed to control matches we did. Vs united, City, Spurs, Everton, Chelsea, etc.. all teams that could hurt you with attacking players, we controlled games and conceded very little.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes you won those games, but you can't say you had control.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We were in control of those matches and lost concentration.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
England try to play like Liverpool did last season, are you on crack or something, ridiculous comment. First of all totally different formation, no pressing of the ball, no ability to alter tactics (something BR does all the time)
We play 433 or a diamond, seriously do yo uhonestly think England play like we did last season? Chile for example play a similar style to what we did, but England??? Lay off the pipe lad
