Belgium didn't really have any 'sitters' though, just a lot of shots. Howard did well though.

the US had a couple of sitters

on balance Belgium were the better side and 'deserved' to win, however the US should have won or at least got a shootout.

You wouldn't understand as a glory hunter, but its called snapping up young promising talent and seeing how it develops, and you never know, maybe his french isn't all that bad.

Argentina vs Belgium
Holland vs Costa Rica

Which of these matches is most likely to yield an upset?

Colombia and Belgium have about the same chances i reckon, not seen the bookies but i bet both have similar odds.
Costa Rica have less hope than England of reaching the semis at this point.

France Germany is gonna be epic, Germany's defence is truly awful but France have not been really tested, gonna be a fair few goals i reckon, France to shade it as they played earlier and avoided extra time.

Feckin stuggling without footy today and still gotta get through tomorrow yet

For what its worth i think Argentina will match up well with Belgium, Argentina will have plenty more space than in other games as Belgium are a good side who will see a decent amount of the ball.

Me too Forza, but it just isn't gonna happen.

I just hope they can keep it tight for a while, if they concede early it could end up 3 or 4 nil.

Obama gets heavily involved in sports here, even getting a 30 minute segment for march madness each year (college basketball tournament).

Espn has just been giving out the viewing numbers, amazing stuff, games like Germany Algeria crushed Yankee games, The USA game had 22 million watching 2 million more online not to mention around another 20-30 million in bars and watch parties..........only the Superbowl gets anything like those numbers.

USA has played more world cup games than England the last 20 years also.

The real question should be what damage are the big 6 doing to the lower leagues in England.

The sooner they feck off to a euro league the better for the game in the UK, talk about suckers for marketing.

Cinci, calm down fella.
The big six (as u say) are not ruining the game....
The tactics employed by various coaches have been our undoing.
The players are good enough to compete, with the worlds best.

Have to disagree Stringer, clubs lower down the chain are now being sidelined as the big 6 are rammed down everyones throat constantly as the only thing that matters, marketed everywhere, young kids with little common sense jump on board without thinking.

Even the ones who do support say a chesterfield or Colchester more often than not support one of the big six as well(should i include spurs really?), if they didn't footy would become irrelevant as the only discussion in playgrounds and bars is indeed the big 6.
