Are Forest Players Too Good For Billy?

posted on 4/11/13

Three wins in ten and Billy Davies has now resulted to spending 11 minutes digressing his press-conferences into how the referee should be applying the laws of the game.

Billy bottles it once again

Oi Wagbo!

it had to be Forest

Same old Webbo going off topic. Admit it your manager is a bottleless git. I've not been saying it. Your own fans have.
Don't worry he'll start bringing more loan players in

Where is the continuity in 'he bottled it' and 'bottle less'

If one has no bottle, then where is the bottle that is to be bottled?

Strett another one who goes off topic. Are you confident R2D2 will bring you success and are you happy with his extended 4 year contract?

Those two questions are not mutually exclusive.

I think he may bring relative success. I say relative because most Forest fans who voice opinions have only just got their national insurance number, so success is finishing in the playoffs.
For me, who remembers seeing the European cup paraded round the home of East Midlands football that is not success, but I'll take it.

The four year contract confuses me.

But don't you think, now he's got his 4 year contract and he's got his feet under the table, that he doesn't really give a damn anymore, he's guaranteed money for the next 4 years even if he gets sacked.
Maybe it's because your owner has never owned a club before and he thinks billy is the best thing since sliced bread. But another four year contract??

Here are my opinions...

Let me spell this out again. I think BD is a loathsome, manipulative little twonk, but is a decent manager at this level and I would struggle to come up with names to replace him at the moment. OK.
-------------------------------------------------------
Strett the only point is he needs to spend money and a lot of it. That's the only reason he's a decent manager at this level. Just my opinion.
But I agree with the first part of your post.

Wassa, unless we are mid-table in the PL by then I can't see Davies lasting more than 2 years, maybe less if we don't get at least a playoff spot this season. Fawaz may seem to be happy with Davies at the mo, but we've seen how ruthless he can be with SOD.

Florist my whole point is why would they give him a 4 year contract?
This is not being disrespectful but no one would touch him with a barge pole not just him his whole back room staff. We should know, they cost a fortune.
I have said this before, I do like Julian Darby not cause of his name, he knows his job.

Wassa, I would say that the length of the deal is purely for the fans' benefit, to show that Fawaz backs the manager that "most" fans wanted. Possibly.

yes you could be right. A bit of stability at your club. But I still don't get it.
We've only given the ex England manager a 2 1/2 year contract

posted on 4/11/13

I suspect that Jim Price offered Fawaz some impartial advice on the length of contract too, being completely neutral and fair minded in this.

strett - that's part of the problem mate...I too remember those days...even got my photo of me holding the European Cup...TWICE

But they are long gone...treasured memories...never to be forgotten...but it's impossible...almost verging on self harm to be comparing today back to then, we cannot compare success in the same was as we did back then

Success today (if and when it comes) has to be rational and relative, if we are forever looking back as saying, 'well it wasn' as good as back in the late 70's' then the team of today...and the manager will never win, they'll never be good enough, and we as supporters holding that mentality, will never be satisfied

That is exactly right Rev.

One of your stands is named after Sir Brian Clough whereas one of ours is named after Gordon Guthrie.

You need to move on, remember the past by all means but put it in a box and open it every now and then.

I couldn't believe it either.

Under Clough and Taylor Forest experienced three years of spectacular success, far beyond any supporters wildest dream's. Then just as suddenly as success arrived [like a fickle mistress] success vanished. Never to be repeated! Tony Woodcock, Trevor Francis and Viv Anderson all left. It was if management had become overawed by their own success. Ironically after being concerned over the fitness of Francis the club wasted millions on various lumps Justin Fashanu and very average players, so average in fact I can't even remember his name.

OK we won the league again a couple of times and came second and third in the league, but that doesn't compare. I realise we were robbed by Liverpool getting every English club thrown out of European competition, but set that to one side for the moment as it's another issue.

If the internet had been around in 1981 we could all having this debate back then.

The lesson for all football club owners in the Champions hip is not to get rid of managers who can regularly produce top eight finishes; because the rest of the jigsaw is down to stability, continuity, team building and yes a bit of luck!

Edit " we won the League Cup again".
