OK- I will try to simplify this for you.

Let's say for arguments sake the Group is:

Barcelona
Arsenal
Ajax
Viktoria Plzen.

Everyone wins 3-0 against Viktoria Plzen.

Barcelona's results: Barca' 0-0 Arsenal, Arsenal 0-1 Barca', Ajax 1-1 Barca', Barca' 7-0 Ajax,

4 wins+2 draws= 13pts.

Arsenal's results:

Arsenal 1-0 Ajax, Ajax 1-0 Arsenal. Barcelona 0-0 Arsenal, Arsenal 0-1 Barcelona.

3 wins and 1 draw= 9pts.

Ajax's results:

Ajax 1-0 Arsenal, Arsenal 1-0 Ajax, Ajax 1-1 Barca', Barca' 7-0 Ajax

3 wins+1 draw =10pts.


Group table=
Barcelona 13
Ajax 10
Arsenal 9
Viktoria P 0

So what would happen there is Arsenal and Ajax had the exact same results: 3 wins and 1 draw, yet Ajax go through- and that's despite Arsenal only conceding once against Barca' over two games and Ajax conceding 8 times. All because 0-0 is worth opts.

3 points for a win,
1 point for a score draw,
0 points for a no score draw,
0 points for a loss,

tie breaker is goal difference.

What a stupid, stupid article. This is a contender for one of the worst articles in 606 history, an absolutely terrible idea.

This a great idea .

A goal from outside of the box should count as two goals and goal from the other half should count as 3 goals.
