I think Sandro has a groin injury, so i guess Dembele will take his place.
I would like to see Lamela get a start after playing so well tonight, he was the best player out there tonight, by a far distance.
I'd be tempted to go Townsend Lamela Siggy behind Soldado. Tell Lamela to go where he wants to and drag Newcastle around the pitch, showed he can take people on out wide tonight but also showed class running from a central position in the build up to the penalty.
While it's not quite working for Eriksen and Holtby drifts in and out of games, it might be worth giving Lamela a shot there to be more direct and run at Newcastle. I've been pretty anti inverted wingers but maybe this could make it work.
However, we are picking up wins doing what we are doing at the moment. Do we change it?

Away win.
This would be my starting front 4 for Sunday
Lamela Holtby Townsend
Soldado
Townsend should stay wide to help provide a bit of width on the left which has still been lacking despite Verts excellent performances.
Lamela should be given licence to cut in more seeing as Walker is more adept at overlapping.

Is there any way of getting back VDV, Bale and Modric?
Full-backs! Not fall-back! I'm a fool!

Sir Super
Excellent article, and that is the team i would go with on Sunday.
Holtby has to start. Eriksen has sublime skill but lacks tenacity.
Holtby wasn't as creative in the PL as he was in the Europa but he played very well and didn't stop fighting. Plus we know he's capable of some delicious through balls
There is a case for Lamela to start but I think AVB will still go with Townsend and Lennon...unfortunately.
On the other hand, AVB knew what he had to do with Lloris last year so I'll completely trust him to get Lamela up and running

thanks avb
I just feel that lamela and eriksen need to be put in the team. Whilst players like holtby, lennon and sigs may be on slightly better form in the long term these 2 players are going to be class and ooze in creativity and will be world class players.
I mean real and barca who are huge teams have put faith in the younger players who they have invested heavily in. I mean at the start both neymar and bale looked dire to be fair but after month or so of faith both clubs are reaping the rewards and that will be the same with us and eriksen
Lamela has to start, Lennon needs to up his game, not been at the races since coming back from injury, If Lamela cannot get in the team after last night`s performance, then he never will.
Guys... Townsend is pretty shiet on the left very ineffective
Was at the game last night and I saw AVB tell Lamela at least 5 times in first half to stay wide and stop going inside.. A few times he looked very ..
For me holtby has to start over Eriksen
==== Sandro Dembele ====
Townsend = Holtby = Lamela
But also this would work but can't see it happening
==== Sandro Holtby =====
Lennon = Eriksen = siggs

---------------------------------
Well the penalty came from him running through the middle but I understand AVB!
For now Lamela must know his position in the team and stick to it.
Once he's on Bale's level, I'm sure AVB will give him all the freedom he wants
Spur
It was mainly first half..
Put Lamela, Townsend and Eriksen in the same team and you have a great basis for a fluid line up behind Soldado. All three are capable of playing across the line, they just need to work on communication to make sure they know where each other are going
