Woah! Wonder what that means for Sky subscription prices!

Hopefully BT keep doing 2 things
1) show all games via the red button
2) keep the channel free to those with BT internet.

1) I am sure they will. It is a lot of money to spend to then only show a limited number.

2) No chance. The free with internet was only ever going to be for one season to get new customers.

I'm happy with that as I get BT Sport hd for free with my current Virgin tv package. No doubt when this kicks in it will change though. Sky would have to drop their subscription significantly once this takes effect.

Sky will be livid, Good. Probably means my BT Bill will go up though.

Those of us who subscribe to Sky and are not with BT Internet it will just mean we will get less for the same (or probably more) money. In the meantime football will continue to rip us off and the rich get richer. Eventually they will kill the golden goose.

You missed a couple more important points:

"The contract, priced at £299m a season, is worth more than double the current arrangement, which could mean significantly more money for clubs in the two European competitions."

And they will charge for the matches:

" John Petter, boss of the company's consumer division, told BBC Radio 5 live the new deal would mean customers having to pay for some of the matches.

"These games are going to need to be chargeable, that's true. But they'll be far more affordable than today's competition," he said.

"So today, to get the whole competition, you typically have to pay Sky £40 or so a month. The pricing is not being announced today, but I can say that this will be far more affordable than currently"."

Whenever ITV lose the coverage rights of any sporting event it can't be a bad thing.

Dave&Danny

If I was Prime Minister I would bring in a law that gave the CL and all England games to the BBC but unfortunately I don't have the power.

Pawlbawron hope you do soon, looks to me like BT are the new Sky monopolize sport on TV, surely this is illegal wasn't there a ruling with sky not so long ago that they had to share

The less football itv have the better, they're dreadful. Hope that both commentators don't get snapped up elsewhere either, or that tool chiles.

Not happy about sky losing out as I don't have bt
