Why did we sell him to them again? Doing that acknowledges that we wouldn't be competing for the title for 3 or 4 years... imho anyway.

fluck me da silver get with the programme -

van persie did not want to move abroad and only had 1 yr left on his contract -
---- what the fluck was wenger supposed to do when he was going to leave anyway after his contract was up ?

Because he had a year left on his contract and we got a very good offer for a player who would have otherwise walked out for free at the end of the season.

Up until this season, we've been operating on pretty much a breakeven transfer policy. Selling Van Persie and Song gave Wenger the funds to sign Podolski, Giroud, and Cazorla.

make him see his contract out not sell him under our noses to our most hated rival

could've kept him for a year then let him walk

money isn't everything....there's pride

You had to pay for your ground somehow

Shareholders have asset stripped Arsenal for years. Now that you are out of debt, a token big money signing was granted to pacify the fans.

But don't expect Ozil to hang around for more than another season if you remain potless. He was signed over other available players ONLY because he is guaranteed not to depreciate significantly in value.

A safe bet

Of course, for us fans, it would have been best to keep him, since we don't directly see the benefit of the money...but someone has to bear the chrematistic effect of such a decision, and that can feed back through to us by way of not bringing in new players.

Yes, this, and there's also not stengthening your rivals... RVP in your team moves you up 1 or 2 places in the league over a season. You get more money from the Premier League the higher your position... many other points like this could be made. Really, an ambitious team does not do what we did.

da silver

so wenger kept RVP for another yr and then lost out on the 24 mill he got for him -
---------- oh yeh ---- thats a flucking brilliant idea
