Giroud more of a link man than a number 9

Having Walcott back will solve much of that problem, do you not think, John?

Carlos Vela

I'd rather Vela than Hernandez anyday. I'd stop even mentioning Suarez as after the bad blood over the 40m+1 offer there's no chance they would sell him to us. Suarez would be perfect for us though.
Giroud does love to come back and help midfield which is admirable but as the lone striker(it's 451 at the minute until we have Theo and the other pact players back) you want him further upfield.
Can't wait for Theo to come back. He is no world beater but with Ozil and Cazorla feeding his runs he could have a huge impact for us this season.

Perhaps Wenger will go for Eduardo type poacher in Jan if we can't get Luis Suarez or another top striker. He can't afford to wait till the summer to buy a striker. Diego Costa won't be moving theres not alot of quality strikers available who aren't CL cup tied

___________

agree with you John. We all know we need someone upfront but who is available and in the Suarez mould?

I know my opinion will probably be dismissed as a Liverpool fan but I really think CF is your weakness.

The Arsenal defence seems to be generally seen as a weakness but I think it's quite under-rated. It seems your GK (not even going to attempt the spelling) has cut out some errors; Mert is looking commanding; Gibbs seems injury free and more consistent; and most importantly Sagna is back on form. It seemed to me his form dropped off a cliff 18 mths ago and I admit I thought he was finished. Yesterday and against us, he was very good.

Midfield is pretty complete when you get your quick wingers back.

CF though, I just don't think Giroud is good enough. Not from what I've seen anyway. There certainly isn't depth there, bringing NB off the bench when looking for a goal is never ideal.

It's common knowledge you're looking for a CF. TBH, I'd be looking for 2. If you get good ones then you'll have a very impressive squad.

Poldi can play there but not sure about him playing with his back to goal. We need a world class player that can play wide or central. Being honest as Juve as it would be to get in someone that's allowed play in the CL the league has to be our priority and as long as they can play in the PL that's good enough for me. We need someone with pace that's for sure.

I like Giroud. He always gives his all and is a hard working team player. But he lacks mobility and simply put is not top quality. We can and should do much better than him. Lacking a good (not great) striker will cost us big time.

He is mid to lower EPL standard.

Giroud's hold up play is exceptional, good one touch player as well unfortunately doesn't have pace to get in behind hasn't got that quick 5 yard movement

There's got to be another Thierry Henry out there

He is a less mobile version of Andy Carroll

His hold up play is awful. Everything bounces off him, can't hold up the ball up for toffee. Chamakh done a better job for Palace at the weekend.

As for his 'one touch' play - about one in ten comes off for him, last one was the Wilshere goal of the month.

I have always liked Andy Carroll thought he was brilliant at Newcastle he's a young lad he'll get better. He's only getting mocked because of his price tag

Anyone watched Alfred Finnbogason

Andy Carroll is actually decent though. Never was going to suit Liverpool, but on his day is a real nightmare for defenders, he's a great bully of a forward.

Of course, he was never £35m which was his stigma really.

No, he gets mocked because some of his performaces were appalling. I can take a player having a bad day but to my mind there is no excuse for lack of effort and poor body language.

At his most effective he's a real handful and would cause any CB a problem. Trouble is those days don't roll around too often.

I was actually quietly chuffed when Liverpool signed him. Not at the price obviously, we had our pants absolutely pulled down, but I thought he would prove a great signing. Not to be.

With our midfielders we need someone to stretch defenses.

It's all good giroud being a target man or link up man but we can't constantly rely on our midfielders getting the goals.

Without Walcott how often over the last 2 months have you seen anyone skip past the defense and be in a one on on situation.
