This will never happen now.

He has shown he has no desire to be a top footballer, wouldn't have the right mentality we are looking for.

i'd actualy prefer a new defender

Not seen any Monaco games, anyone out there know how he is performing?

Wiki says 8 goals in 11
appearances. Not bad even in a shiite league

He is the joint top scorer along with Zlatan and has been the star performer for Monaco who are currently in the 3rd place.

What team will be give Lukaku next year ?

Sad thing is, I don't want us to buy him, as I believe all our strikers are cursed. I don't want our club to ruin another footballer

Agree with hazard, I couldn't picture us having a striker who consistently scores week in week out who is in the peak of his powers...

I don't even think we need a striker at this point unless it's one who is a goal threat from outside the box. Torres and Eto'o even with improved form rarely take long shots. Hazard is about the only player in our team who even looks like scoring from 25 yards. Oscar and Ba can't even kick the ball that far.

Torres has been quite handy so far this year, still has the odd bad game.

Please ,lets not get started on the Torres
song and dance routine again !

My hopes of getting Falcao have disappeared.

I think we need a Suarez-type striker who can make things happen from outside the box.

In fact if we are going to spend big on a striker then I would go for Suarez. I think he would suit us well.

I have doubts about Falcao in our system because I'm not at all convinced he would get the service he needs.

We don't have any good crossers in our first 11 and our service from wide areas is almost non-existent unless we have Schurrle on the pitch.

Maybe we should buy from Madrid whoever has been buying these strikers for them, to me it seems they sell one and their replacement is just as good if not better.

It must be whoever is spotting the talent or it must be the way they play, if the later then anyone of them could struggle at Chelsea so I'm banking on the talent spotter.

any striker would struggle in our system because we simply do not do things strikers need.

We dont get crosses in and we dont get the ball in early to them

all we do is hump it to them

And that Toby is the crux of the matter.

Falcao is a wonderful player, I agree we might not have the best set up for him but that could be tweaked and he’d bang them in for us, he’ll score where ever he plays. Aside from Ronaldo and Messi he’s the best striker on the planet and of course is more a pure striker than the other two, he’s just a natural. I think one of Mata or Oscar would be sacrificed in favour of Schurrle or Willian in the main and Hazard would be asked to get a bit more chalk on his boots. Jose likes to play inverted wingers, he could easily revert this and ask them to play a little wider and get to the by line more, this would also allow a central play maker more room, if that were Mata he would likely find his goal tally staying pretty healthy as he’ll operate much as Lampard once did with Drogba.

That said I think despite his face Suarez would be the best signing we could make, he can create goals for him self and is also a natural goal scorer, he’s a very mobile player and would be an absolute nightmare for defenders to pick up as he plays between the lines and can be quite allusive among the flair players a little deeper.

Agreed. The problem stems from the fact that Drogba was just too good. So good that the team didn't even need to learn how to play for him as he just did everything by himself.

That's why I think that we need a make things happen type of striker like Suarez who isn't solely dependant on the service he gets from the team.

I think that 60 million on Falcao would be a huge risk as he would simply face the same type of problems that Torres faced before him.

Falcao would probably do a better job than Torres but for 60 million I fear that it could be an big waste of money. I´d rather spend that on Suarez.

Superb

Falcao is actually one of the few strikers in the world right now who can make things happen out of nothing, the other two being Zlatan and Suarez.

-----------------------------------------------

Agreed but from what I´ve seen of him Falcao makes things happen in or just outside the box.

Suarez by comparison makes things happen all over the pitch and never stops moving and trying to make things happen.

For whatever reason we just don't seem to play in a way that suits having a conventional striker.

It's no suprise that we so often see our strikers dropping deep or going wide. The reason they do that is because if they stay up front in the striking position very little happens for them.

Don't ask me why this is. As I said earlier I think it's a bit of a hangover from having Drogba who didn't need a team to play around him as he pretty much did it all himself.

We need to re-learn as a team how to play with a striker because we seem to have forgotten.

Failing that let's play with a formation that has two strikers seeing as many of our goals this season have come from having two strikers on the pitch at the same time.

Missed a huge trick in not chasing him harder in my opinion...the guy is just wasted at Monaco...

We have the weakest striking line up of the top six teams...& that includes Southampton

Perhaps a little greedy but can you imagine a partnership of Suarez and Falcao with Lukaku a battering ram on the bench? You look at the top sides and they mostly have a couple of quality forwards and that really is a disadvantage for us. United have got away with an otherwise average squad by their standards by having RVP and Rooney upfront.
