We will still win the series 3-1.
...or, 2-1.
.....or lose by no bigger margin than 1-3.
....or at the worst by 1-4.
keep your options open robbie What are you basing your optimism on?
The English commentators looked so downbeat last night. Think even Warne was feeling sorry for us.
Beginning of the series i said 2-2, but on this showing i think it's more in hope than judgement.
We havnt scored big scores for a long time and that is a concern. Key batsman have some technical flaws to iron out and presently they have provided no answers to the challenges set. for example Trott, Root, Prior and even cook cut shot has been dried up.
its too early to predict how the series will go.
Though one thing is certain, if the likes of cook, KP, trott and prior dont find ways to overcome their weaknesses then Aus will always have the upper hand.
Harris, Siddle and Johnson have executed their plans very consistently and has put so much pressure on these batsmen that they couldnt handle the pressure anymore.
Not sure that it is too early, virudagreat. The turnaround in fortunes, over 4 days has left a great psychological advantage in favour of the Aussies.
Very down and can't see us winning even 1 test at the moment. They have been better than us in all aspects in this match and will be c ock-a-hoop going to Adelaide.
Contrary other people opinions on here but i thought the rot set in as early as the 3rd test on our home soil. From then on for me Australia have been the better team.
Too many players not in good or even average form, swann negated, plans being well executed, 3rd seamer dilemma and opening and number 6 option still not settled.
australia are ranked 4/5 for a reason but on home soil are a tough nut to crack. Getting hammered in the first certainly doesn't help our cause. And from what i have seen in the ODIs in England and the first test unpredictable Johnson has so far looked very predictable.
Would make changes for the next test. Drop trott, prior, tremlett replace with Bairstow, stokes and Finn.
Cook
Carberry
Bell
Petersen
Root
Bairstow
Stokes
Broad
Swann
Finn
Anderson
Mitch is a blow hot blow cold bowler. He will go cold in the next match.
....or eventually...when the series is over.
....or Jimmy will overcome his long running cold by passing it on to Mitch.
...or Broad will send a family member to do a bad chiropractic (massage) job on Clarke's back.
Would make changes for the next test. Drop trott, prior, tremlett replace with Bairstow, stokes and Finn.
--------------------
As an Aussie fan I would be delighted if England actually did this.
I think with Prior he is in awfully poor form. Bairstow will score more than what prior scores these days. His keeping aint that bad either.
At some point you have to give it to the aussie bowlers. They have not given easy runs. So the pressure ought to get to them
i think you guys have made some valid points in regards to changes. Such a massive defeat needs fresh faces. If the track is as flat as they are talking about for the next test then may be leave trott in for now. Fails again then its time to rest him. The other two changes Bairstow and Finn would be a gamble worth making in my eyes. The side seems to have gone of the boil and become stale.
But lets face it Bairstow has technical deficiencies against the short pitch so who knows...May be try Stokes instead of Bairstow.
Duncan(aussie fan). I guess your a lot more confidant after this showing.
England won 3 consecutive Ashes series and prior to this test had 8-2 lead in 15 tests. Please don't suggest a major reshuffle of the team. We don't want to replace a solid performer like Trott after just a few failures.
If players deserve to be dropped after a few failures, why keep Anderson and Swann?
Trott has gone home. "A long-standing stress related condition". Trescothick mark II.
England team must have happy memories of Adelaide 2010:
