Not me Tats, my comment above clearly says i hope he maintains his form and that KJ keeps him there
Though it is OK to discuss the merits of him as a player isn't it, being a forum and all?
By the way, the ''sensible'' fans wanted him replaced in the prem.
Absolutely no problem discussing him at whatever length you want to Cinci, what did you think was the most impressive part of his game on Saturday or last night? Was it his energy? The accuracy of his passing? His tackling? His synergy with McDonald?
You know as well as I do that there will always be a moron or two ready to knock him not on the basis of what he does but on the basis of who signed him.
Apparently having a good game in Div3 PROVES you can’t hack it in the Championship so we’ll be looking for a whole new squad next season if we keep playing well this
you're right 306 () i'll save my virtual breath !
there will always be haters........
His energy is his best attribute from what i saw, something we did lack in midfield with Price and Evans who are more ball playing midfielders.
I couldn't care less who signed him, but i get your point, hence the ridiculous amount of mockery of Sigurdarson from many.
Don't know about you, but i want to see this club build a squad capable of working in the champo and then the prem, sticking with a player like Edwards who is limited is not the long term plan is it?
For now he has earned his spot and if he can get us promotion he will get some game time in the champo, but i will not shed a single tear if he is let go in the summer.
So halfy hes hasn't been fit since we signed him.....hmmmm so if he hasn't been fit for 5 years isn't it time we off loaded him?
I couldn't care less who signed him, but i get your point, hence the ridiculous amount of mockery of Sigurdarson from many.
Yawn
like i said..........i can see why he frustrates
i would say that 44 apps in 08-09 season was match fit and playing well in what was our chumpo winning season........that tells me that he was good enough to play in the chumpo !
what do you think ?
“Don't know about you, but i want to see this club build a squad capable of working in the champo and then the prem, sticking with a player like Edwards who is limited is not the long term plan is it?”
His contract is up at the end of this season Cinci so whether he is part of our squad in the Championship will be down to Jackett, Thelwell and the board. If he’s here next season it’ll be because they want him here and offer him a new contract so I’m pretty relaxed about seeing how he does and taking it from there.
He had a very good season for us in the Championship (the promotion season not last but then who did look good last season?) despite having Jones ahead of him so he can cut it at that level.
Started 26 games that season i think.
If he gets a new contract, I really hope it isn't a long one, two year maximum as an OK back up in the champo.
All this is probably irrelevant as I am sure he will break down again a few weeks from now.
Either way, he is in on merit right now and hopefully he maintains that level.
Strange isnt it he's starting to play well........I wonder if its anything to do with his contract being up at the end of the season.
Reminds me of a certain player we signed on loan who played well till we signed him permanently and who now is "on trial" at Blackpool.
Weird how players do that...................
I heard he was Zidanesque last night, was he that good Tatts ?
not quite OhSo but, bearing in mind it was poor opposition, him and McDonald looked like the best pairing so far in CM.
His energy (something we know he has) added a lot but he also tackled well and found a Wolves player with nearly every pass (I might mail Tara and see if he has any stats for pass completion from last night). In short he did the basics very well and added some urgency we’ve been missing.
Tara needs to be giving us those stats each week anyway, slacker!!
Zidanesque............if hes that good how come hes playing in league 1?
Jacobs was motm anyway.
"Jacobs was motm anyway."
If he's that good why is he playing in league 1?
I think you are bring a little unfair on Wolves tatter by labouring the point that Tranmere were poor. Theres a danger I think of always saying when Wolves lose its because Wolves were rubbish and when they win its because the opposition were rubbish. Somewhere along the line I think we need to give some credit, and I think Tranmere were made to look poor by a very good Wolves performance.
In most games even when one team is dominant the other team has a spell in the game when they are on top. To dominate a game throughout the 90 minutes as Wolves did last night is extremely rare and I think they deserve great credit for keeping on the front foot for the full match.
Maybe he's more Phil Robinsonesque then perton ? Good tackler, good passer. run allday and scored a goal or two
Phil Robinson must be fuming right about now!!!
Seems to me that all of our best performances have coincided with playing dreadful teams when you read the forums, I agree with DJ on this, we dominated which makes them look bad, our problem sometimes is that we let teams take over the midfield, left night it seems we never gave them a sniff.
Me harsh?!??! Shurely Shome Mishtake!
I always think it’s worth acknowledging who we are facing when assessing a performance DJ and Tranmere did look very poor but (and this is a truism and a cliché at the same time) you can only beat what’s in front of you and we did that comprehensively and with a more dominant performance than we’ve seen in ages and, as you say, the fact that we didn’t take our foot off their throats in the 2nd half was particularly pleasing.
I’m not sure what we’ll face from Peterborough (are you going?) on Saturday (their chairman’s twitter outburst http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25119007 might gee them up or spell the death knell for Ferguson) but I’m sure we’ll face a tougher challenge than last night and i hope we look just as dominant.
