Always thought Long was decent but not top 4 quality. If he'd be willing to sit on the bench 90% of the season for 20-40k a week I'd consider taking him, but even still I'd reckon he'd need a run of games to hit form and he wouldn't get it at Liverpool.
Can't see him signing up to be our third choice striker. Although with European footballer he could be a possibility.

I wouldn't take Mulumbu.
I'd take Jonas Olsson even if just to help with set pieces.

We could always play a back 6
We always did want a team full of Carraghers.

I think we have plenty of players who can fill a gap bar the DM position.
I think what we need now are players who will keep us in the top four and that is going to be a massive challenge.
I would like to see us put in a mega offer for Mata bring in a new DM like Regus from Porto or M'vila and maybe a new LB in January.

To a large extent I agree with ARE’s post. Mata (or someone of equal quality) could be the top class goal scoring midfielder I feel we need to move on to the next level.
We need a DM, but whoever we bring in for me has to be better than Lucas.
I don’t mind Shane Long at WBA. Seems to do a decent enough job, but he’s not good enough for us and this season we don’t need him.
Mulumbu is too erratic for my liking.
Yacob is a better player, but not an improvement on Lucas.
Yacob is good but Schneiderlin is better I think.
I agree with Righteous.
Mulumbu is a nutter, I can remember when someone fouled him and the way he reacted by kicking the ball at the player
I also agree with what most of you are saying.
Shane Long might not be the way forward.
We do need a few big signings.
I just read Everton are also in for M'Vila?
Surely, we can't let him go to them if he is available?
If we can stay top 4 after the big games in December then that'll help us, should we go in for the big boys like Mata, Lavezzi, Pastore, etc.
I'd be happy with M'Vila, Hughes and Mata.
