I bet you thought Sunderland wouldn't get relegated when this result happened. Typical Rex ruining Ludys good work
Sunderland 0-0 Birmingham City
Goalless but there were chances and surprisingly it was Sunderland who seemed to have the better off them. They perhaps have found their rhythm earlier and this is certainly a huge point for them. They looked energetic in midfield and were determined to get on top of their opponents which they did for large parts of the game. Going forward they didn't take their chances which will disappoint their manager but the fact they were creating them against a top side is a very good sign, whilst being solid defensively it can only lead to good things for Sunderland. For Birmingham this will undoubtedly be seen as 2 dropped points as they struggled for large parts of the game, Sunderland made it difficult in midfield and although they did get on the ball they struggled to create chances with Gomez becoming somewhat isolated, the main threat tended to be Robben. They looked brighter with the introduction of Rooney though, he helped out midfield to create more chances and got involved in attacks but ultimately Sunderland through some excellent work and a bit of luck at times, held on.
Sunderland: Pepe Reina 8; Glenn Johnson 8, Adil Rami 7, Angelo Ogbonna 7, Yuto Nagatomo 6; Andrea Poli 8, Paul Pogba 8; Keisuke Honda 7, Henrikh Mkhitaryan 8, Danny Alves 8; Klaas Jan Huntelaar 7. Subs: --
Birmingham City: Petr Cech 8; Juanfran 6, Nevan Subotic 6, Mats Hummels 7, Gael Clichy 7; Aisier Illaramendi 6, Joao Moutinho 6; Arjen Robben 7, Santi Carzola 6, Willian 5; Mario Gomez 5. Subs: Bastian Schweinsteiger 6, Toni Kroos 6, Wayne Rooney 7.
MOTM:Andrea Poli - Stopped Birminghams midfield being able to play how they wanted to in midfield with a really energetic performance. Showed why he is key to his side this season.
musacchio demichelis should be your line up, not otamendi
fred is ok, people don't rate him for some reason
