I'll tell you what's the problem.

As well as Shane Long is playing...when he starts for us, we just don't play our passing game. We always look to hit the long ball and it bypasses our midfield.

IMO this is the reason Sess has had a few off games.

-----------Yacob--Mulumbu---------
Amalfitano--Sessegnon--Berahino
------------------Anichebe----------------

That's our best team for me.

As harsh as that sounds on Long, who is playing really well. It's just the rest of the team don't play well when he starts.

Just my opinion.

It's not often that SC fooks it up but Jimmy for Jacob just did not work. This became obvious after about 20 mins.
Hoofball to Shane makes me shout.....

I disagree about Shane Long. With hindsight, I think the mistake last night was leaving out Claudio Yacob and then not making the second-half substitutions earlier. I said when the team was announced that leaving Yacob out was a 'brave' decision by SC. And Victor Anichebe wouldn't have made Boaz Myhill's weak punched clearance any stronger. That was just poor goalkeeping and a gift goal for Newcastle.

We play the long ball when Shane Long plays.

Long ball from the defence ultimately means it bypasses our midfield and our creative players i.e Sess and Amalfitano. Long always looks to run in behind whereas Sess works better when he's fed the ball by the striker holding up the play.

Shane along is playing really well. But the rest of the team suffers when he's in the squad.

It needs to be worked on.

This exactly.

I feel sorry for Long. Just because he is good in the air and willing to chase lost causes, it doesn't mean we should be lumping 60 yard balls for him to conrest against a couple of 6"4 defenders. It's not productive and it's not the Albion way. Clarke needs to tell his defenders to stop doing this.

Someone please explain to me how we came to be 2-0 up against Aston Villa, with Shane Long playing.
Did we throw away a 2-0 lead because Shane Long was playing?
Who scored Albion's two goals that evening?
Dropping Shane Long for Victor Anichebe isn't the answer.
The answer is to stick with our passing game.
