Wow amazing. First Tom Daley and now you.
No sportsman should think that their is a credible chance of death when competing.
And if there is I want no part in that sport.
Boxing is a sport, entertainment it should not be a place where people die. And all preventative measures should be taken to stop serious injury or death.
And if they are not it does make me question my commitment to the sport.
In a sport where the objective is to hurt your opponent u have to address the reality of your life being at risk. If u didn't think there was credible chance of death u would be going into the ring or cage with no defense.
Are you entertained, are you not entertained?
The objective of boxing is the KO, and/or to hit and not be hit.
And if you go into a ring with no defense it very likely you would lose has little to do with staying alive more to do with the will to win.
Boxing is entertaining barring a few exceptions (eg Mayweather vs Baldomir)
But I would have to question my own morality if I enjoy watching someone getting beat to death.

I dont think boxers defend themselves in the ring because they dont want to be killed, they defend themselves because they want to win and not get knocked out! More people get killed horse ridding than they do boxing! Generally when a boxer dies from injurys in a fight they were a ticking time bomb to start with, with the damage either done in previous fights or it was something undetected in there makeup!
After chris eubank almost killed watson he was never the same figher again, this does not seemed to have effected kovalev however, and amazingly after he was involved in a previous fatality im shocked the way he behaved while his opponent was knocked out on the floor on saturday night, in really bad taste that!
This mr niceguy act seems to be slipping now!

Boxing is a sport that carries with it real risks, occasionally fatal risks. It is far from being alone in that regard – as VIK already mentioned see motorsport as a prime example. All the protagonists understand those risks and so do the fans.
Who among us did not enjoy at the time the visceral thrill of the Benn / McClellan fight? Yet I could not watch that fight back now as I know it ends in serious injury for McClellan.
This is not about enjoying someone getting beaten to death. But unfortunately those who display vicious disregard to the possibility of hurting people way beyond the 12 rounds in the ring, like Kovalev it seems, attract plenty of unthinking knuckleheads to the sport and negative unbalanced reporting in the media.
There are risks in every aspect of life, but if a sport requires someone to risk their lives to entertain you, that is morally wrong.
If boxing is run properly these risks are minimised.

Kovalev vs Mayweather, it should happen, SSR took on Maxim for his light heavyweight title and Floyd and some of his fans think Floyd is greater than SSR.

VIK just a bit touchy because he has openly admitted he like watching half naked grown rolling around on the floor in compromising positions.
