Just seen the Southampton result - how the hell can a defence as good as theirs let Gabriel facking Agbonlahor score against them?!

We did
Agbonlahor did not score against us. Although he did rip our defence apart and got a dubious penalty.

I'd rather put Gibbs up against Mirrallas and Coleman than Monreal. Totally different challenge to playing Hull.

Why?

Cos last season taught me Monreal doesn't enjoy players running at him. I remember him getting ripped to shreds against QPR by Townsend. And Sessegnon bamboozling him a couple of times against Sunderland. And Lennon giving him a torrid time against Spurs. Gibbs is a more comfortable defender than Monreal is.

Not really fair, Sunderland was his 2nd game in England, the whole team was in disarray when we played Spurs and Townsend got by him 2 or 3 times, that's it. He is a brilliant defender, I've always preferred him to Gibbs but there is no reason to drop Gibbs as he has played very well this season and has not really put in a below par performance yet.

Don't get me wrong. I like Monreal and I wouldn't care if Gibbs got injured with Monreal as back-up. But Gibbs is just that bit more solid defensively.
