Atkinson was absolutely woeful yesterday. It wasn't even close to a decent performance.
It wasn't the CM's midfielders that cost us the game. It was Valencia, Kagawa, Welbeck and Rooney.
Blaming the central midfield is the lazy go-to option from fans who don't want to look at what really happened. We made plenty of chances but missed them all.
But blaming Fellaini is fashionable so lets do that.
Yea hoe fellaini didn't even get a booking let alone a red for his scathing raking challenge on McCarthy is beyond me, along with all the strange fouls he gave in favour of United as Lukaku just brushed Vidic away like he was a molecule time and time again.
I think we can all agree that a CM 2 of Fellaini and Giggs is not mobile enough

Fellaini should have seen red, though I figure that makes up for the distinct lack of free kicks given in our favour, for example when Januzaj was shoved over on the edge of the box.
To be fair to Vidic, some of them were fouls on him. I think that Vidic's reputation helped him a fair bit there. He's been built up as a kind of indomitable rock, so when someone like Lukaku, who is strong, gets the best of him, it seems like a foul.
The same way tall players are often penalised simply for being tall when challenging.
Like I said though, for the most part Atkinson was just absolutely shít all round.
Atkinson is dire and was awful last night.
And it does start with our midfield. Immobile, lacking energy. How Giggs stayed on for 90 minutes is beyond me. Kagawa many a time made runs that his team mates were just either unable to see or would just not pass and made inferior decisions. he plays on a different wavelength to some of those around him.
IMO he should have taken Giggs off. Welbeck cannot start again on the left and some may well argue not to start at all after glaring misses against Cardiff and now Everton.
Everton looked good, Jagielka outstanding and Barkley is a talent for sure as is the Spanish lad, but to let Barry boss the midfield shows we have big big problems !
Starting Welbeck left wing when he had THREE wingers on the bench was ridiculous. I'm sorry I don't understand that.
