Alan Clarke was Leeds through & through but sent us down.
Eddie a Gray was Leeds through & through but also sent us down.
All that hog wash about being Leeds through & through means nothing.
Sorry but it needs mentioning.
Grayson sent us up though?
Gray has done so many great things for this club!
It means something to me that I am Leeds through and through, and that the rest of the people on here are too. So why should it mean nothing that a manager is?
It doesn't mean he did a better job. It just means something!
Middleton, if anything, I think it can cloud the managers decisions.
I think we owe Grayson a lot for getting us up, he had his hands tied by Bates so that can't have been easy, but cheating on his wife whilst at the club severely undermined his position and players confidence in him.
If Bates had been a more supportive owner and Grayson less worried about buying players and always trying to loan them we might well have kicked on.
Jonty
I think we all know that if Bates had supported him properly then he would have won promotion.
He had the makings of a great team who could play exciting football.
What would have been even more exciting is if we had BM as manager at that time rather than Grayson. I think hes a much better manager.
Would love to know how you know that cheating on his wife undermined the players confidence in him?
Frank, I think he'd have done better, but I'm not 100% sure.
Graysoin himself admitted he preferred loanees than buying players as he was worried purchased players might not perform, but his record in loanee market was shocking.
Am thankful for him getting us promoted and he'd always get applause from myself if I saw him, but I think we're in as safe a pari of hands as we could be now with BM in charge.
Jonty, I don't think what he and whoever did has owt to do with anyone around here, I'll say I have never done owt like that but there are people that have and they might have had or have reasons for doing so!..
He did a job for Leeds United, and me being one of the few that backed him am very grateful for what he tried to do, backing, everybody moaned about, but didn't look at the real reason for the lack off and what it was doing!..
It wasn't only bringing the club down, it was also making someone out to be worst then they actually were, and his Blackpool record should have shown that!..
Mind you, his Blackpool record is the reason he got the job!..
I'm hoping we'll see the real ins and outs of what really happened at Leeds United, and I'm hoping the blame follows the bod that did it right to his final resting place!..
Not in same league as BM. Never found an answer to the defensive problems and was not ruthless with players who were useless. But - did get us out of L1 and I don't believe to blame for those good players being sold.
I think its hard to fairly judge any of our managers under bates.he was such a deterant to wining.
2020, odd how three managers had a defensive problem wouldn't you think?..
Sounds something like managers getting player's that they weren't really after to me, and player's they were after decided other's were better options!..
Oh no debate about who was really to blame Germany
Germany, have always said that transfer decisions were in Williams hands not Graysons.
People on here used to scoff at that.
I think the transfer decisions were planned out before he took the club on, he new what he wanted and was lucky enough to get the club he hated the most to make it work for him!..
I'm just wondering what would have been if he'd got Wednesday, I mean did he dislike them as well?..
Sorry guys but I think I could have got LUFC out of L1.
Even with Bates in charge.
Going into the 08/09 season we had the likes of Beckford, Becchio, Snodgrass, Delph, Kilkenny, Robinson, Howson, Douglas, etc, and we were midtable at Christmas. So maybe it's harder than it appears?
Simon Grayson was the right man at the right time getting Leeds United promoted although there was a tendency to panic post Xmas almost every season.
It was the right time to go when he was finally sacked and to be honest I'd have sacked him at least a month earlier. Bates clearly didn't help his cause but wasn't that obvious to all anyway?
I hope he gets success with PNE. We've moved on.
Warnock was always a disaster waiting to happen and he thankfully has gone too.
Let's hope McDermott continues in the same vein for the rest of this season and beyond. With the right financial backing and the Leeds United supporters behind the club, there is little that we can't achieve.
Mr Sunny - my views etc. etc. etc......
I have always said he was one of the best managers we have had BM is proving his worth I especially like bringing the young ones in
Grayson been lucky that at every club he's gone to, he's had a great squad to start with
His signings were terrible
LIW, has Clive hacked your account?
LIW I'm still reeling that u are a labourite.
Let's not ignore the facts, we had the biggest wage bill in league 1
Bigger than Norwich and saints
All this cr ap he had no budget
Mike
A labour man but not sure id want them in charge at the moment
Sign in if you want to comment
