He wasn't bad. He was ok. But my point still stands.

Why don't you guys try Podolski up front?

Or how about Walcott up front. He'd stretch opposing defenders and give your gazillion playmakers space to work in.

You just contradicted yourself with the p.s...if that went in you would be singing his praise and what a goal it was......

It's an exaggeration to say they can relax. With players like Walcott on he looks better agreed, but that doesn't make him a bad player. When we're grinding out results he's too useful defensively as well.

Imagine how good this team would be with RVP in it

OP is 100% right. He's just a foil for players like Ozil and Ramsey etc but when the midfield has an off day like to day his ineffectiveness is really exposed. He should have scored at minimum one goal today.

But I don't hate on him really, because he's just not world class so there's certain things you can't expect of him.

Pod wasn't that good last season when we tried him upfront.

A well documented debate/concern this one and one, I think, everybody is acutely aware of even if they believe that being kind to him and his ability is key to being a better Arsenal fan.

Fact is though, it's what we've got from now until at least January, so we have to hope that the side continue to get as much out of themselves as they have until then when, we have the chance to improve on the options we have. Whether we adequately can, however, is a whole other matter all together given the lack of quality we want and need that will be available in January.

Brilliant strike at the end. But that in itself says a lot about him. He should have been in the box instead of 30 yard out. FFS he is a striker and not a midfielder.

He reminds me of a goalpost but less mobile.

Who the flip are we going to buy? there isn't anyone available, not even in January

You judge him on 4 games in which he scored 2 goals and assisted another?

Never said he was a bad player. Defenders can completely relax. They don't have to worry about slipping up.

I swear Podolski has only had like 2 games upfront. But there must be a reason Wenger doesn't play him there. After all, Wenger does see these guys train every day.

I hate it when Giroud jogs back in to midfield tracking back, and the taking approximately 4 mins until he gets his ass up front again. Infuriating. You can do stuff like that if you're rapid.

=======
that was his stats last season when he played upfront? I didn't think he scored any

I think it was the Sunderland game were we smashed 6 past em. Podolski scoring up front that is.

He played up front in the last 4 games of last season. Gervinho was the striker vs Southampton.

Harsh, but true article.

I hate criticising players who give 100% for the Arsenal. Like Ramsey (and Giroud) last season.

But it's games like this where you just need a star player to win you the match out of nothing.

posted on 8/12/13

It's funny that it only takes one winless game for the Giroud-bashers to sharpen their scythes. Never mind the fact that Ramsey and Cazorla provided next to nothing for him, and gave the ball away more frequently than they kept it. What striker could cope in that situation? Even Henry's influence diminished when Arsenal's side lacked pace.

The amount of times he held up the ball, only to find nobody anywhere near him, was countless.

Like RVP did yesterday

But saying that Giroud has been playing quite poorly lately, but it's all well good and saying that we need a WC striker but at the moment there are none realistically available that is better than him for January.

This is what peeves me off about these type of articles, say the same thing over and over again without and real solution

Giroud bashers? Why do these fanboys have to turn everything into 'Us against the world'?
Surprised to see it come from KPPR as well.

Giroud's just not good enough. If you can't see this then you're blind my friend.

Yeah let's just sit back and ignore the problem.

Dubbed, I wasn't referring to you or your OP (sorry, I should have made that clear). I'm just saying that I lost count of the number of Giroud-bashing articles I saw when I scrolled through the feed.
