AVB will set up a team that he thinks will win, there is no way he will play an inexperienced team. He will want the win, whether we are playing for nothing or not.

I don't think this is a bad thing, building momentum and getting in on a run of wins is good.

Also, we keep saying the team need more time to gel, well this is more game time together.

And there's always the point of if our squad can't handle Europa what's the point of CL?

At the same time if he picks a strong squad, he is setting himself up for his critics (and they wouldn't really be wrong tbh) If another Rose type injury happens, he'll look a bit silly and we'll be in trouble

i don't think we'll look too different from the recent Tromso game. It will be a mix of squad players and a couple of regulars that haven't played much recently, so players like Siggy, Townsend and co

You will see in the media that avb is under pressure. He is under pressure not only because of the football or results but the way he uses or a lack of using the kids.

He got rightly criticised for using vertonghen and lamela (as the club has to pay every individual an appearance fee which is written in there contract) in a game that was meaningless as is this game. In effect wasting an opportunity for the youngsters and wasting money for the club.

I would be stunned if he named a full strength team against a team in Russia's relegation zone. Like the other teams in this extremely easy group they are in crisis and we should sweep them aside no need to take risks.

As HRH said some time ago, with the squad all fully fit, there is never any need to play the kids. However we have injuries to players, and we cannot risk 'Rose' injuries for the next two months, so AVB has the opportunity to de-risk injuries and also progress some of the kids further down the line.

LLM

To be completely honest I'm not bothered if we lose it draw the game, I have an eye on the future and this is a perfect chance for the young and 2nd string to get a chance.

UEFA Ranking.....

http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/trank2014.html

Currently same ranking as Man City @ 17th.

A decent run this year should see our ranking rise well and as we only have about a few points to defend from the 09/10 season we could even sneak a top 10 position if we got to the Europa final.

"A decent run this year should see our ranking rise well"

20 pts this season would give a total of around 75 pts.
In the event that Spurs get into the CL next season, that might be good enough for a "pot 2" ranking.
Note that <Citeh> missed a Pot 2 ranking this season by less than a point. Spurs won't be getting into Pot 2 with the points tally they had in 2009/10, that much is certain.

09/10 counts towards next years coefficients, it;'s 5 seasons worth. We have dropped 12 points from 08/09 (already bettered).

We are currently sitting in 16th - http://www.uefa.com/memberassociations/uefarankings/club/index.html

AVB will not put out full strength, but then Spurs squad is strong anyway, no way will he be putting out the youth team. He will hopefully play full strength against West Ham in the League Cup next week.

If Spurs say have a squad of 25 players, and only 11 wil be playing against Liverpool at the weekend, WTF are the other 14 players going to do if they are not to be involved midweek as Chronic so badly wants. Nonsense to have a squad if most of the players are going to be sitting on their arris.

Anybody that is likely to feature against Liverpool should be left out, madness to risk fatigue and or injuries to key personnel when we have already won the group.

goes without saying.

full strength v liverpool, west ham, and southampton all within a week, so no need to go strong at all this thursday.

not one second of time should be given to this game on the training pitch.
