A bit strange on the face of it Mike, probably more to it though.
Tend to agree with you Mike. SEB was one of the ones to come out of last season with credit and I think would be a better addition to the squad than the likes of Craig Davies who we were linked with recently. I certainly would not want to sign him on a contract cause we do need to move on but as Jackett has been looking for another striker he wont find a better one at this level than SEB for 4 months.
Shame that players like him were tarnished by last season which to me was a managerial failure
As you've said dj I'm a bit concerned we'll end up with someone like Davies on loan when we could have had Seb. That would be a disaster!
I'd have no issues with giving him a 18 month contract, that way if we did go up he could score the goals to get us to the prem, also that way if he had a good end to the season we could get some cash for him, although that's probably what would stop him from signing anything long term with us
Don't have a problem with it personally.
It is time to move forward, we have a good crop of players like Keita and Eusebio eager for opportunities, SEB may be a decent addition for a few months but i would rather see the very promising players we have now given the chance rather than a player who has just spent nearly a year out.
Not unusual for a player of any ability to have to take time out with a broken leg.
That doesn't make SEB a bad player, and his record - 2 golden boots - suggests he can do a good job for a League One club. He's only 27 by the way!
I refuse to believe he's not good enough for League One when there are Championship clubs lining up for him in January.
I dont think he is a bad player Bute, one of my favourite Wolves players of recent times.
But we have good young players eager to get games and we are at the level where they should get an opportunity to make an impact rather than going backwards.
The main priority is promotion though Cinci. II'm all for bringing through youth players but if the options are cassidy or seb for the next few months give me ssb anyday. Cassidy can go out on loan and develop and have another chance next season
We don't know if SEB will be ready or not, it is likely he will take time to get bak into his stride.
Meanwhile we have McAlinden who we loaned out with the intention of getting him game time, followed by Keita and Eusebio who may be as effective as SEB at this point as well.
Where would SEB fit in as well, not sure him and Griffo would work so we would have to take out our proven goal threat to accomodate him or have him warming the bench.
SEB himself is a proven goal threat. They don't come much better.
Ah well, hope he goes on to prove me wrong elsewhere but as i have said before, i think his best years are behind him.
That's fine cinci... As long as we don't end up with Craig Davies
I don't mind giving the kids a chance but I'd be disappointed if we turned down a known goal machine without a long term future with us... To bring in a average journeyman with no future with us.
Davies doesn't excite me either
Though i have a feeling we may well see him.
I f he does go to a Premiership club, I think Ipswich will suit him. I'm sure he'll be useful in any side that's looking to mount a promotion challenge, but as he's familiar with the management staff, I'd imagine he'd settle in faster.
Quite possible Mick will chance his arm, other managers will show more caution and would want a trial first to assess his fitness.
Not sure what prem club you think would come calling Bute?!?!
My bad, Cinci. I meant Champo club, hence the reference to promotion. Can't understand how that happened.
