For me I think the game of this generation is red dead. Everything about that game is quite frankly amazing.
MGS4 That's one of my favourites too, completed it atleast 30 times. The MGS series is probably my favourite out of all games series. The Phantom Pain is going to be immense, I can guarantee that.

^^ Will be strange not having David Hayter as Snake's voice though.
RDR was great, it's one of those games where you can't actually pick anything wrong with it, it's perfect from start to finish.

The only problem I had with RDR was the constant horse riding. Was fun at first, but it quickly got boring.

You know you can fast travel on it, right?
Tu Meke did you do all the side quests hunting, treasure maps and plant picking cos I found doing this meant the horse riding was always fun
Dunno, I had to give it up after my mate wanted it back. Was a quality game though
I watched the ending on Youtube
Ah dude go buy it for 10 quid and pick up the dead dlc really really good

THIRTY TIMES
There is a big difference between the quality of something versus how well it sells. The call of duty series released a very good shooter in the original modern warfare game, but since then they haven't innovated at all. There have been so many spectacular games released this generation, it's a travesty to imply any of the cod games deserve to be considered the best.
What call of duty has done, is worked out the formula for selling units with minimal effort. I applaud the developers for this, however it's been detrimental to the gaming industry from a consumers point of view. It's caused more and more game studios to take the safe option over innovation, to reap easy rewards rather than take a risk. There are still many original and groundbreaking games out there however, thankfully.
For me, the game of this generation would have to be either portal, fallout 3 or bioshock.

Aye
Getting every emblem requires quite a lot of playthroughs, I got them all before the trophies were out, then like a year later the trophies came, and they wouldn't register if you had already done everything. So I had to get them all again, wasn't complaining though, MGS is a great game for just messing about on, with all the CQC stuff, areas where infinite enemies spawn, and cool weapons like the tanegashima/dolls/javelin/mood tranqs etc.
People mention COD 4 as the best game in the series. Guys, come on, MW2 surpassed it on almost every level. I still miss the online on MW2, it's like a nuke zone there now. Nobody there to enjoy it
Halo 3 was insane. For about a year from release you'd go on Xbox and no-one would be playing anything else. So much fun.
You gotta remember at the time, things like Theater mode were crazy to console gamers, and this was before social media really took off. Brilliant game that took most of my time that gen.
Also, GTA V and Bioshock have to be up there, as well as the excellent Bioshock Infinite
COD 4 was my favourite but I can see why people prefer MW2.
Halo was the daddy of online multiplayer not cod
I do hope they can get back to form with Halo 5.
Halo 4's story was amazing but it's multiplayer didn't have much longevity. It was too complicated and COD-like and the series needs to get back to its original, simple roots that made it so good.
Skyrim for me
Had it when it first came out. What's that 2 years?
More or less finished it. My main game glitched can't to the thieves guild. But if I start talking about skyrim I really get the urge to stick it on. Not many of any other game has the hold on me
I actually like halo 4 online and still play it but it never sucked me in like the 1st 3.
Anyone ever play dead island riptide? Got it a few days ago it's actually class. The first one was just too hard to enjoy (hoards of 30 zombies or more ffs).
I really like the Dead Island series - nothing special but passes the time, really good coop as well
I'll still cherish my memories of Crash, Spyro and Rayman defining the ps1
Crash was class. I was unbeatable at crash racing!
Well lets do the full Monty:
NES generation well that has to be Mario, maybe Alex Kidd at a push and Tetris.
SNES/Megadrive: Super Mario World, Sonic, ISS/FIFA, EA, Flashback, SWOS and Syndicate (this for me was the real generation of games and innovation)
PS1/Saturn/N64: Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and Golden Eye
PS2/Xbox/Game Cube/Dreamcast: Halo, PES, MGS, Shenmue, and FF
Non console mentions: World of Warcraft, Quake, Half Life, and Monkey Island
