Hull have had a good season so far according to the media. But a win for us puts us only 2 points behind them.
That said our confidence looks shot and I only have memories of Hull coming here and beating us recently.
I do remember Hartson scoring a few in a win at home a few years back but other than that I just got memories of the Northern bastàrds singing that annoying 'getting mauled by the tigers' song!
I went to the KC the year we went up. We ripped them apart for a while, then Robinson inevitably got sent off and they got back into it. We brought on Bednar for (I think) his first appearance and he got the ball late on - we were all shouting to take it into the corner but he went straight as an arrow and thumped it in the net.
Love to think we could do something similar this weekend but I don't have a great deal of confidence that we will.
Yeh I was at that game remember Mozza scoring the first. Brilliant team goal.
I was also at the 2-2 draw at the KC a few years back. Jay Simpson scored, I think.
I was thinking more about recent games against them at The Hawthorns.
I was at that 2-2 draw as well JH - a freezing cold day, between Christmas and New Year I think, and did Chris Brunt get the equaliser with a penalty?
Yeh he did mate. Think it was a 'free travel' game and loads of Baggies went up.
Hello. As a neutral here, how would you feel about being re-named as West Bromwich Throstles?
Not well.
But we have been renamed once already.
West Bromwich Strollers FC
Out of curiosity Mr Owl man. Why are you called Sheff Wednesday? Obviously understand the Sheffield part but why Wednesday?
Oh I didn't know that Strollers eh?.
The Wednesday Football Club was an offshoot of The Wednesday Cricket Club, who's members played on their half day off - guess which day?
The Cricket and Football Clubs went their separate ways when the Football club was making all the money whilst the Cricket club was spending it all.
ps I'm Ms Kitty
I prefer to uphold tradition and can understand Hull City's fans not being happy.
Also, in our history we were originally called the blades - but as the Pigs hadn't been invented yet, it didn't matter. When the Blunts were founded they were known as the Cutlers (all this being as Sheffield is the Steel City).
We became the Owls when we moved grounds to an area of the city known at Owlerton - and as in all things we gave our handmedown nickname to the bacon-stripes at the Pig Sty.
Nice. I like learning about clubs history!
Miss Owl. I apologise.
No worries. Me too. Sheffield Wednesday and West Bromwich Albion have lots in common over the years and I've always liked your club. Two proper clubs founded in the late 1800's playing in blue and white stripes.
Agree
I also like your ground
Surprised how massive it was aswell when I visited.
I also really hate your rivals aswell, which helps
Any news on a manager yet?
I like your "massive" comment. We use the word with irony when winding up our piggy neighbours. Being thick, they just think we are being arrogant - as if.
No news yet about a manager. Caretakers Stuart Gray and Lee Bullen in charge tomorrow v Wigan and probably on Saturday too. The merry-so-round is still turning.
Two of our former players have good connections to the Baggies - Chris Brunt and Gary Megson
Yeh. I came up the season we got promoted. We won 0-4 and was surprised how big the ground is.
Brunty actually scored if I remember rightly and refused to celebrate.
Top lad
We taught him everything he knows
Sheffield United and Colin W@^ker, they will receive their deserved reward in purgatory for ever and a day
Thoughts on team selections?
I'd go...
Foster
Jones McAuley Olsson Ridgewell
Yacob Mulumbu
Berahino Sessegnon Sinclair
Anelka
Myhill, Popov, Morrison, Brunt, Anichebe. Amalfitano, Long/Gera/ Vydra
@smadeley_star: Keith Downing has a fully fit squad to select from on Saturday including Ben Foster. All players have trained. #wba
