He inherited the striker problem, but he should have forseen we are sh-t in CM and he has to take some responsibility for our defending...

But it is not his fault we don't score, i agree

Didn't Mourinho also decide what strikers he wanted to keep at the start of the season...?

Doesn't matter who we play until we get a 2 goal lead the game is not safe.
Stoke, Palace which was close, and now Sunderland.
Strikers aren't finishing games off.

Never Mourinho's fault is it..someone needs to sort out our defending.

he tried to get Rooney, didn't work out and we were never going to pay the money for Falcao or Cavani,

Would Rafa have been blamed?

Seriously even with Eto'o missing that chance, we were in such control of the game that we should have created something and scored.

Still think CM is a big problem, it's just too damn slow and uncreative there for us to move fast.

He did have Lukaku though

Mourinho is as much to blame. He knew how good his options were but still let Lukaku go out on loan. Tonight was utterly ridiculous. The amount of missed chances from Demba Ba was embarrassing.

But if we do take our chances and kill teams off by scoring these sitters, we would mot concede as much as we give teams a chance by not taking our chances

I believe if Eto did score that would of knocked the stuffing out of them as much as the other sitters missed ,would have knocked the stuffing out of most of the teams

It has been happening all season we dominate but do not score the sitters. That is not Mourinho's fault

Demba Ba did not have a clear chance at goal. It is very harsh to criticise Ba today. The blame is on Eto even I would have scored that and believe if Ba had that chance he would of scored as well

posted on 17/12/13

I didn't see Ba doing much wrong. Eto'o as well tbh, apart from that one chance. We just weren't very penetrative with the amount of domination of the possession we had.

he cant be blamed for all the impotency up front but he should take a share of it for letting Lukaku go on loan

posted on 17/12/13

We let Lukaku go ok, but our strikers should be more than capable of scoring them chances and and killing off these teams

Grant Scolari AVB Benitez were all blamed for lapses of this sort. At the time it was said if we had Mourinho this would never happen. Well it did. AND the manager takes the blame for sure.
This should not take any credit from Sunderland who put in their best performance of the season. We will keep pottering around , missing great chances to score . We must get that ruthless streak back . I hate to say it but under Benitez we were looking alot better, some of the time , not all...under Rafa Chelsea looked a more attacking outfit. Its tough to get motivated for a game like this but this is what the coach is paid for to MOTIVATE....
having said all that i still prefer to be out of the LC than lose 3 points. If we can do Arsenal at the weekend this loss will be easy to forget about.

Easy mate, we are still doing decent this season and have January coming, Rafa was cr.ap, would do anything to erase him from our history.

...our lack of directness and penetration runs deeper than just a striker issue though . the way we started the second half was great so fast and direct but afterwards we slumped back into periods of ponderous passing again . in the end they deserved it.

If Eto scores game over if Ramires scores the other day game over. I do not expect us to score off 30 yard shots but I more than expect us to score the chances that we are missing. That is not Mourinho's fault

Mourinho can't be blamed for your strikers being poor even though he loaned out your best one by a mile to Everton?

Chelsea fans really are hypocrites. I wonder had this been Rafa if articles as such will be written

King's Road

Deflect all you like, it really is a fair point. Benitez was absolutely bombarded for dropping out of a title race we had no hope of staying in touch with given United's form and the outrageous fixture pile up.

We're prodding along just as much, dropping points to the same lowly teams, yet the tone of the general conscious towards our football at the moment is much more constructive. Good job by Roman bringing in a manager who has invoked that reaction from the fan base, but it doesn't stop it being slightly hypocritical.
