Yesterday - Right Formation, Wrong Players

Sherwood was trying to play a
4-1-3-2

Dembele should never have been the 1 DM. especially with makeshift CB pairing. I was very shocked but it's one of this formations that if you score early you could score 4 but we all know what happened....

very naive.....Sherwood was trying to show levy we can attack. In a very pie and mash way..he selected players with premier league history seemed like an ol'boy set up.

It worked well until he took ade off

Think they only had one shot in target before then.

I was glad to see us trying to be more attacking but it plainly didn't work. Ade ran around a bit and scored a good goal made by a good pass from Defoe. By the way Ade pranced around after he scored he clearly believes he is the man and we should all be grateful for how brilliant he is. I just want him out of the club as soon as possible. Defoe was his usual self getting caught offside at least 4 times and failing to control the ball thereby allowing our attacks to break down.
I too am a broken man this morning and can only see doom and gloom for the near future.
Someone needs to get a grip of the club and sort out the problems. I have little faith that Levy or Sherwood can do that.

After his performance yesterday, which was the best by any striker this season then you'd be mad to want rid.

IMO he should be starting every game

I didn`t think lat night was an improvement at all, Spurs huffed and puffed all night to break down a reserve West Ham team, who have been beaten by all and sundry until last night.

Nothing in that team filled me with any optimism. Lennon and Defoe are clearly not up to the job now, Townsend always seems to play better for England than he does for Spurs. Siggy was anoymous. Capoue you have to feel sorry for playing out of position, just like Verts has been doing for months. All in all this had all the hallmarks of Spurs circa 1990s, going nowhere. A mish mash of a team cobbled together, with absolutely no leaders or direction.

Do you really think Ade will do that every game. He will revert to type very quickly and be his usual lazy self.

Adebayor was all over the pitch searching for the ball, dropping deep, going out wide and was chasing players down for the ball.
His movement was good as well, why slate him?

I really want to see Soldado and Ade upfront

People need to stop thinking with their hearts instead of their heads about Ade. he was the best player on the pitch last night, and when he was taken off the game turned in West Ham's favour. He deserves a run of games now to show us what he can do, because if we're going with 4-4-2 (or indeed a lone striker formation) he's our best bet at present

I think you possibly have the players who could work well in a 4-4-2.

Unfortunately atm some of these where unavailable.

Lloris

Walker-Kaboul-Vertonghen-Rose

Townsend-Capoue-Paulinho-Lennon

Adebayor-Soldado

I wondered what you would feel about that line-up?

Our lineup was like every bad early 90s football cliche turned into reality: big man, little man up front; flying wingers with little end product; no.10 shoehorned into the midfield two; deep defensive line that eventually conceded to hoof balls. If that was indicative of what Sherwood has to offer we need to get someone else in as soon as possible, not least because playing this way marginalises two of our most talented/promising summer signings, Eriksen and Lamela.

Adey was the best player on the pitch last night.

Idiots slate him,

Yeah he had a good game and it was a great finish. All it does though is prove we need that kind of player...and one that does it all season long, not when he feels like turning up.
