Far too optimistic for these boards! I agree though. Lots of quality from the new boys, particularly Formica.
1 game and 1 defeat and we're obviously relegated already!
I just wish that people would give the season chance to get going, maybe give us a chance field at least 50% of our first choice back 4.
If we're in the bottom 3 at Christmas come back then and spout the carp you've been speaking all summer.
bravo LDR well said see were we are at xmas
One question, why was none of the fee for our England centre back not reinvested in a new centre back?
One question, how long is left in the transfer window?
I know ideally it would have been nice to have replaced PJ before the season started, but it hasn't worked out that way.
Let's just hope we can get someone in before the window shuts.
We just got beat at home by one of the worst teams in the league. Total joke.
How long left in the season? How long is a piece of string? How delusional do we have to be? A quite simple problem that should have been addressed rather than signing Miles Anderson...
Why am I delusional?
I agreed that ideally it would have been great to have PJ replaced before the season started.
We are only 1 game in though, give the team a chance.
With any or all of Nelson, Samba or Givet back would make us a better team straight away, surely you agree with that Pie?
I didn't actually think it was that bad a game...Hanley looks dodgy to me,and N'Zonzi isn't a centre back, but they didn't play particularly well. However I do think a in a full strength side there'd be no Emerton or Pedersen and we'd have a decent defence so we'd probably have won. Salgado's tackle was madness,he had a mare. Beyond 11 or so players the squads worringly thin.
One thing I did notice was how open we were at the back...dug our own grave by pouring forward, doing nothing, and then getting countered. Whether that'd be different with different defenders I dunno, but in previous years when we've struggled,we've relied on home form to keep us up. It might only be the first game, but a loss at home,to an ok wolves team is probably a bad result.
Still, happy the footballs back on,and really hope they can turn things round next week.
the game that I went to we were rubbish everywere the midfield was a joke & how many penaltys has salgado given away now
What action thus far has convinced you that we'll have a top class centre back signed?
We sold PJ in the first week of the window and haven't replaced him.
Idiocy!
And what makes you an expert on transfers between football clubs?
Maybe we have moved for targets that weren't available, didn't want to move, too expensive, who knows.
At the end of the day we need another centre back, I'm not denying that, let's moan if the transfer window shut and we still haven't signed anyone.
At the end of August we will still have 34 games left, so not mathematically down by then!
"And what makes you an expert on transfers between football clubs?"
Many years of watching football. Calm down dear, it's just an opinion. We should have made the signing by now, quite simple. Also, you'd expect a comment stating that Samba is categorically not fo sale...
Maybe, just maybe we are trying to sign a replacement, things don't always go to plan though.
I have watched football for many years as well, I have no idea exactly how hard it is to sign a player, you must be special or thinks its pretty easy!
"Calm down dear" poor effort Pie!
You just seem to have got a tad aggressive, I'm concerned for your blood pressure. Stoke have signed Woodgate and Upson, QPR have signed Gabbidon, Wolves have signed Johnson, Sunderland signed Brown, Cuellar is apparently available...
Very difficult to sign players...
Don't worry about my bloody prerssure Dr.Pie, very little increases that for me.
What I'm saying is that we don't know how long the clubs were working on the deals for those players, how much they are being paid in wages and if they actually wanted to sign for the respective clubs.
You talk like its just a matter of making an offer, then they sign.
Would you like a ladder to get down from up there?
Put it this way, if we had won yesterday then Samba would have gone by Tuesday.
If only Roger Johnson had been available for 7 million.
Kean is quoted on skytext as follows
"We've got four bids out there at the moment and we have to irritate those bids and make sure they formalise into full signings..."
Does anybody know how you irritate a bid that's out there in order to bring it to formalisation?
He talks such bull it is unreal!
hope some of these bids are for a centreback
if not we'll be down by xmas
I am sure that Stevie is irritating towards fomalisation as we speak.

It's like messing with a blind spot, just enough so you can squeeze it.
Well at least its not just the Rovers fans he's irritating......
To be fair to Venky's, I don't think Kean flew to India oftrn enough. Why should they put their hands in their pocket for the Phil Jones transfer money even though that's gone towards the debts they haven't paid off after all?
