Good to see, and we are in a no lose situation now. We gained the lead we required to become the best team in the world and that is enough for me, coupled with yet another series win. Clearly India have issues causing them to play like a bunch of old women and we will win 4:0 as predicted several years ago.
The only thing I will have my eye on in this last test is the performance of that muppet Bopara. Fail again and let's not be seeing him again in a full England shirt?.
I can not stand weakness in this England team, and it worries me that he bats so close to Morgan who does not convince me either.
All that said, we could beat this Indian team with six players so no panic this time
I would have liked it if we would have gone with some players who have been out of the squad for a while or players who are yet to play international cricket, I would have replaced Bopara with Taylor, and maybe one of the bowlers (maybe jimmy [he deserves a rest]) with Onions, just to see how they get on, we can't lose so we might as well take a gamble.
That is exactly what I was hoping to see too Lazy
It looks like England are going for the jugular here, and just not giving India any chance whatsoever of chilling out whilst the match is going on. I like the mentally too.
Taylor and Onion, and even Finn and Shazhad wouldn't have let us down but you have to be honest, the way our current bowlers are batting, makes us a formidable unit?
I think giving Bopara this extra chance is correct. James Taylor when his chance comes should be at the start of a series after a period within the team setup.
agree with hope
as much as i would have liked to see taylor given a chance, and he does deserve it, i would much rather see him brought in at a time when he can be given a run in the team and not just as a injury replacement for trott who we know will come back in once he is fully fit.
Long time no hear rich, I hope all is well with you mate. Had a good summer? We can't complain about test match cricket can we?
yeah its been above average
i do most of my posting on another forum , just pop on here occasionally
Good to see this forum is too good for you to not to pop into now and again
A lot of good England cricket fans on here, and even some good Indian ones too on the odd occasion their team is doing something quite well. I haven't seen them for a couple of weeks though. Probably due to religious reasons
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see changes in the pace attack. Broad and Bresnan will be playing T20 and ODI games after this series so one or both could be rested for Tremlett on his home turf.
The schedule of 4 T20 and 15 ODI games at home and in India this year is a lot for the same bowlers to play.
It sounds very unloyal but I hope Bopara flops. That number 6 spot is the only position up for discussion dor me, Morgan has done OK.
But I want Taylor in there.
No way should we bring in fringe players like Finn and Shahzad.
Winning a Test Match is an achievement in itself. Bringing in Tremlett would be fine because he's a central figure in this side when fit, and he would be suited to the Oval pitch.
But 'resting' Anderson/ Broad/ Finn for a Test Match against India would be wrong.
Well it looks like I am getting my wish after all Andersen out and one of the bowlers I wanted to see will play. Fantastic. This series is over and my interest has almost gone due to the lack of competition on show.
Brilliant that we can try another man and that makes this test far more exciting for me. Personally I would have put out an entire B team against India because lets be honest, they can not take 20 wickets. I will take the draw and gladly send India packing.
Maksi, did you see our young Lions were walloped by SL "A' the other day.
I did mate, 10 wickets, but we are not playing Sri Lanka, we are playing a rather weak India :p
