Pulis and Palace's Poltroonery

Why would they be happy to loss? Its obvious he was trying to play it tight at the back and maybe sneak a goal. No team is happy to lose so a bit of a ridiculous statement. Also last time I checked defending was part of the game as well. What would a 7-0 pumping do for morale? Absolutely nothing.

they still had a fair few decent chances for a team that didn't want to attack

Hart was our MOTM
Suggest you watch a game with your eyes open X
Palace created some good chances, especially 2nd half
Why should any team come and play open to get spanked?

I suggest you open your eyes, because most of their good chance came before Dzeko scored, with the exception Ward's effort, which was the only time he was truly tested, so how Hart was motm is beyond me.

So when Palace were 1-0 down, they continued to sit back and try to counter, which was perhaps fine at first.
But from around the 80th minute on, City stopped taking risks and concentrated on possession; that is when there should have been a change in strategy.
At the very least more urgency to win the ball back higher up the pitch.

But there wasn't.
They sat back and tried futile counter attacks x

It seems that Pulis and his players were happy to be beaten by only one goal, which I suppose City should take as a compliment.
However as a football fan, and on behalf of Palace fans I am pretty disgusted by that display x

PS poltroonery means cowardice x
----------------------------------------------

No OP, you're not speaking on behalf of Palace fans so shhhhhhhhh bud.
The two squads are light years apart and fairplay to you for that. This could've been the mother of all beatings for us but as things turn out, you have your 3pts and we hopefully leave with some credit (our great fans too).
This 'anti-football' shiiite is only ever spouted when a big club plays a smaller club. But it's somehow called 'tactics' when a big club plays another big club??????
So please enlighten me, what would you do in TP's shoes? Risk a massive difference in g/d that could possibly be the 'straw' that sends us down or concentrate on playing to our, albeit not too good, strengths?
You're happy, we're happy. So where's the problem?

What? If the league ended today they'd stay up on goal difference, and the team directly below them just got hit for six at Hull.

Not a bad afternoon when you can go to the Etihad and find yourselves five goals better off than you were before you started.

I thought palace played really well, far better than I was expecting
City were very lacklustre and the tactics from pellegrini today were very poor

Cheers 'Paul'

We try. That's all you can ask of any player/team. Chelsea may have thumped us the other week but equally we might have nicked a point. We all left the ground happy though, just as I guess we are today. These fixtures are 'monsters' for any smaller club so to walk away from The Etihad without a beating like many bigger clubs have this season is a huge relief.

Hopefully in Jan we can spend a little, do the impossible and stay up. Who knows eh?

Football, don't ya just love it

You’re talking a lot of rot, what do you expect them to do, pile forward & then get picked off & be on the end of a thumping. They are fighting for their lives & very nearly got a point. Even after we scored they stuck to their plan & possibly thought they may get the odd chance or a set piece.

Even though you are entitled to your opinion, spouting nonsense like this & using the word poltroonery makes you look silly. Not one person on here has agreed with your views.

Palace deserve some credit not criticism.

If there is only 5 mins left on the clock, what is there to lose? x

Goal difference. It's worth a point at the top of the table and equally down the bottom. Both are equally important.
What on earth made you post this article?

Classic tactics, park the bus and attack on the break - Would have worked if it wasn't for Joe.

Pel was playing a dangerous game with that selection but the only person that played badly actually scored the winner.

Ahh I see, so to lose 1-0 at the Etihad is seen as an achievement, because it could have been 2-0 and that extra goal difference might make all the difference come the end of the season.

Sorry about that, I suppose that is perfectly reasonable now that I think about. Why risk gaining the extra point when there is goal difference at stake x

I can understand Pulis not making radical tactical changes after Palace went behind but why did the GK continue to timewaste?

Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis: "We are really disappointed to have not got anything from the game. The difference between the teams is spending about £350m. The weekly wages of one of their players would probably cover half my team and if I was their manager, I would be sat on the sidelines with a cigar in my mouth."

Never fails to show he's a classless unt though does he? Same fecking script every year

Pulis, you'll never be a manager at that level so shhhhhhhhh!

Let's pick the holes in that:

Pel and Mancini didn't get to management at this level by sitting on the sidelines smoking cigars.

Have you ever wondered why your name has never been mentioned when a top 6 club is looking for a manager?

The Etihad is a No Smoking stadium.

Boris because man utd don't spend that much, your net spend is £400m more then man utd in last 5 years. Man city owners spent more on man city players and wages then it would cost to buy man utd forget about the cost of the club..

Inky - Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the keeper continuing his time wasting, but I now think that was part of the plan.
TUX, pplf et al have convinced me; they had to protect their 1-0 lead, well not lead exactly... they had to protect the minimum impact on the goal difference. It was the only sensible thing to do x
