Well for a start, if TB and DW told PD that they wanted to be relegated then he would quit.
No manager or pro footballer worth his salt would go out to try to lose games on purpose.
If the directors want the fans to get behind them then they HAVE to prove that they are prepared to back the manager and provide funds to try to improve the team.
If they think that selling Bennett and Syers will provide enough money for that then i am afraid they will continue to hear the "we want Brammall out" song at every home game until they eventually sell or we become so bad that fans stop going alltogether.

There is a lot of guessing going off here and the cause of this is that the board are failing in the communication stakes.
Bennet is dead wood why? I just don't know I certainly thought he would make it. We just need to get him off the payroll. Syers, now thats a different question I would like to see him back.
I feel sure that the board would have asked Young Dicky what he wanted and discussed the best way of achieving it. If the outcome is to off load the two its OK by me but I would expect there is still more in the loan budget to help lubricate things.
To keep things in proportion I have supported the club through worse periods than this and if you read back I predicted this period would come.

I too would like to see Syers back in our team, he would certainly add more punch up front than the two that have been playing there.
As for second guessing, yes there is lots of it because TB and coompany are not giving us anything to feed off.
Very poor management by someone who should know much better.
However, i will be in my seat today shouting for the lads out there to do well.
If we fall behind however the knives will be out for TB again and the atmosphere in the ground will be flat again.
LEADERSHIP needed from the directors.

Derubbishdese: I did not do any more than pass on what the Free Press was reporting, although I obviously have views on the wider picture. Shareholders have voting rights and therefore power, collectively the ultimate power, but directors handle everyday business.

Bally and Hound have presented the options very clearly. What is utterly frustrating is that we can only infer what the position of TB and DW is. Alex admires their integrity in contrast to his strong feelings about what he sees as JR’s dishonest statements and publicity-seeking behaviour.

I expect that most people are never deliberately dishonest, but sometimes if you are totally frustrated and emotional you say things which you might not have said if you were not right at the end of your tether. Here was a man, JR, who had devoted a huge chunk of his life and his money to rescuing DRFC from near extinction and then nurtured and built it into something which he and a whole community of fellow football fans was immensely proud of. We may surely safely assume that he was convinced that there was the opportunity to enter a new era with investment which would secure the future. But it was blocked by people who he felt would back his judgment on football matters and had done so in the past, trusting that if he felt it was right that they would follow his lead. So he felt they had let him down.

His emotions took over; he had always been capable of getting decent publicity and he was driven to make his point as powerfully and publically as possible, so he did. There is no evidence that it adversely affected the result at Barnsley; it might have influenced it for the better. It now seems quite clear that it was a good move for him as was clear from the reaction from the fans. Making a demonstration at one match at what he saw as a crisis point in the club’s life surely makes what he did justifiable. He took that chance.

The remaining main shareholders have said nothing and apparently done nothing; they have not even announced the name of the Chairman; we only know that Blunt was likely to be appointed.

They chose not to sell their shares and say it was because the deal was not right for the club.

Until they fully answer the question: “Why not?” we cannot judge the wisdom of their decision. Until they answer it there is no evidence to prefer them to the other option.

The present delay is potentially costly and damaging. Extending it by failing to make plain their strategy and the alternative means by which they can secure the financial future of the club in a League in which it is plain that we cannot compete on current investment does not show them in a favourable light.

You could say that anything is better than nothing and right now there is only one proposal on the table and it’s looking far more attractive than the few crumbs which we might infer are on offer from those who prefer to keep the public in the dark.

Most of us see DRFC is a community asset and JR knows that. If loyal support is to be retained there has to be honest disclosure of information at times like these. The fans are those who will ultimately sustain the club irrespective of who owns it.

Yes Don you have presented my position correctly. I get the vibes that Young Dicky is happy with the support from the board in the January transfer market now that's a move in the right direction.

My big disappointment is the poor communication from the board could it be that they want Ryan back? because Ryan is wide open to be exposed and they haven't done it.

I get the impression that there are many on this site convinced we are going down I am not one of them. If we do go down then so be it I will still make as many games as I can.
