Gateshead have recorded 6 wins on their travels, more victories than they have earned at home (5). So the Shaymen will need to reproduce their best home form to ensure all 3 points.
Prediction is a 2-1 home victory and a crowd of 1761.
along with FCHT's comments about a not so good performance at their place the other week, backed up by the Beeb's possession stats way in favour of Gateshead
would suggest a draw..
But their recent 1 win in 6 has me thinking Town can grab this game by the scruff of the neck & win this...
If they set out their stall to do so.
So I'll go with you on this one Ken... a 2-1 home victory.
watched by .... (very few 'visitors' - they only seem to get about 800 at home) ....1,653 - approx
Good Luck & HNY for '14 Ken...
Lets hope it's a good one for The Shaymen too.
The Dakar starts today...I've trawled the entry list, There's only 197 starters this year in the Moto section..with just 3 Brits ! (recession )
So I'm not 'sulking' if I seem to be 'mia' ...Merely 'otherwise engaged'
Grit, Dust -n- Blood
same to you darn
Also i think i spent new year at the wrong location canalside sports complex in association with huddersfield town
Plus it didnt get any better when the morning came, a 5 mile walk home, taxi firms engaged/booked up! Still, at least its good excercise for the potential trip to elland road in a few hours time (and saved some money )
That's left a nasty taste in the mouth !
2-0 up at half time.
3-1 up with half an hour left.
3-3 & to rub salt into the wound..the results read out says Shaymen 3-2 Gateshead
Double whammy
Good turn out too 16 hundred if not spectacular.
& ironically move into a playoff position despite the draw....but tteams below with games in hand.
'Rhodes of the Rovers' helps Blackburn secure 3 points at your place.
And Patersons brace for Town against his old club aren't enough at Turf moor.
Check out the 'stats' for both our clubs ! 'peaced' the possession but couldn't make it count.
Leeds however stick their chest out as the 'big club' in this league ! with 30 thou. close call though with The Wednesday right behind with 29 thou....Would they have more were ot not for the fact they are scrambling around all season at the wrong end of the division ?
Derby with 26 thou remain as ever one of the better supported sides..
Burnley. ex-prem at that, v near neigbours and just 14 thou on a public holiday only attracted 14 thou. That has to be a disadvantage when it comes to finances & long term stability.
Maybe they could have a look at charging 28 quid to the visitors as being counter productive.
Liked Uwe Roslers comment post match..
'We changed the way they (Derby) expected us to play'
Clearly not afraid to go for three points despite being 'away' against an in form side
He dresses the part too
Anger management problems darn unda ?
Can't find Dakar coverage on previously obliging TV channels ????
'Somethings' gonna BLOW
Difficult to take given the 3 goals scored at home, although despite the 2-1 predictions beforehand, we knew they are/were a good away side. They've got the joint most away wins in the league, albeit they have played 1/2/3 games more than the other best away performers. Only their 2nd away draw today though.
It didn't feel like we had more possession today, Blackburn thoroughly deserved their win, although the ref and linesman seemed to favour them all the time. However, their were far many times when the easy ball was played, no one willing to take a risk to create an opportunity, although got some joy down the right hand side 2nd half.
Just seen the stats now for the Burnley match, and it seemed a very good away performance against the only unbeaten home side in the Football League
I paid £34 for my ticket today, as did the relatively small following that Blackburn brought, so the same criticism can be applied to my club.
Highest attendance by far for Sheffield Wednesday and it paid off with a solid win seeing them jump out of the bottom 3.
Finally, it looks as though Rosler has got a very good job. They have some talented players and with Europa League football out of the way I expect them to have a much better 2014 (league wise of course, can't see them winning the FA Cup again )
Thirty Four Quid !
That's kind-a comical from a Shudderz v L666s fan 'rivalry' perspective..
But between you & me. 'Fans' of each respective. Commiserations.
I've openly stated on the Town chat board, even at mid to high 'twenties' ...."I'm out" as in not paying it. & even if I was back there, I wouldn't be turning up.
I look upon these practices as them taking us (fans) for granted - even mugs if you like,
So I still maintain, footballers incomes should reflect the immediate results all assessed from the income at the turnstiles...
Back to the Shaymen,
It was a point I think 'most' would have been happy enough with given the option beforehand.. It's just that aspect of conceding a two goal lead at the Shay..
Where, just as they have an impressive away win record. The Shaymen have an equally formidable home record,
I can't help thinking If they hadn't conceded those two very late goals away at Forest green, & even managed to restrict Gateshead to just two goals yesterday, How well they would be looking in this present league at the moment.
Still.
fair do's !
As you have pointed out to me before...3 promotions in the last 4 seasons & this Team is 'Rocking'.
They are more than holding their own, I'd suggest Aspin & the staff are not only playing at a higher standard each season , but they appear to be coping with developing the team to compete at each higher level 'on the go' as it were..
And with the lack of (probably woefull) financial backup even at this level, That's quite an impressive achievement !
I think the local population that are all too glad to scoff & scorn the (Their) local side fail to take this into consideration..
OK.
I think 'FC' needs a dig in the ribs as I'm sure we are deserving of another match report
(there's 14 'views' too ! So they might be interested in a run darn as well ) Come on guys ! add your comments - it doesn't hurt- Honest.

To be fair I should have bought a ticket in advance, would have "only" been £26 for behind the goal (still in the mid-to-high 20's range mind ).
Initiative for the next home game against Leicester, all stands united, meaning the usual price differences between stands are eliminated and everyone will pay "that" figure again £26. Good idea for a game against top of the league? Yes, but it's a lunchtime kick-off and on Sky, so attendance could well struggle.
Yes the table looks nice just seeing the Shaymen in the playoffs, despite the games in hand still to be played by literally everyone in the league, what a contrast to last season. Also, I think I have said this before, but it's really disappointing that the conference only has 2 teams that gain promotion. Be nice to see some upsets by conference teams in the FA Cup on Saturday Although I do fancy Huddersfield to progress
Also regarding the Shaymen's impressive rise through the leagues and constantly raising their level to adapt to the higher standard, they have produced a few players now playing at a higher level. Starting with Simon Eastwood who was in the Rovers goal today (ex-Huddersfield youth) and Jamie Vardy of course (impressing for table toppers Leicester). Additionally, courtesy of Duzza's knowledge, Leeds may be coming up against Scott Hogan, who featured on just a few occasions in the 2011-12 season.
Finally, when I was watching the Cambridge-Braintree clash on BT last week, the commentator was mentioning about the Braintree players are tiring and will really struggle last 20 minutes. I couldn't work out why or how he came to this conclusion, only for him to later mention Braintree aren't a full time side! Then when you look at the following..... http://www.thenonleaguefootballpaper.com/features/columnists/7056/full-time-issue-is-a-major-dilemma/
......it makes the Shaymen's performance so far this season even more impressive
Thanks for that link,
& after reading it, I see what you mean. !
Massive for the Shaymen who are performing way above & beyond their capacity in comparison to the clubs round them.
Another piece of the jig-saw fits into place now..
No wonder they are struggling to hold out towards the end of games..
Yeah !
Without doubt, I'd be giving them my money & turning out to cheer them on were I back there week after week.
It's a shame this story doesn't get 'print space' in the Courier ! So the football fans of Calderdale have a better insight into just how well their club are doing.
How good would that be if Town were 'that' club that gained Football league status with part timers....
Now I appreciate even more the unseen efforts being put in at that club.
Come on 'Big Business'...Help & sponsor 'your' local Shaymen.
They deserve it.
