Cracking OP
However, SA are on a different planet to Australia.
They had all these players plus kallis the last 2 times we went there. We won and drew. That was with a worse spinner and ageing out of form batters. Philander got carted in Australia. Harris is easily Australia's best bowler, no idea why u don't rate him.
They will probably win but I'm not going to be surprised if Australia win. Doubt it will be 3-0.
Duncan but those aussie pitches then were as flat as highways. Which team scores 500 runs in one day on pitches that help bowlers?
Its going to be alot closer, but the team that bats better will win, because I think on the bowling front both teams are on level if not better than each other
Plus I think SA are not the chockers that we all talk about in test cricket. They have had incredible draws in the last couple of years, when all other teams would have folded like 9 pins
I repeat, they are not the Juggernaut everyone is claiming. They lost to Pakistan who have been beaten by Zimbabwe.
They lost to Pakistan
No disgrace in losing to pakistan in the uae mate, as the Aussies will find out later this year .... Saffers are a complete side.
Were you born last time Pakistan won a test series against Australia? <whislte>
A complete side would probably have a spin bowler of note.
That says it all doesn't it Dunc. They don't have a decent spinner and are still the number one team in the world.
Give credit where it's due lad.
You have me all wrong, they have 2 great bowlers and 2 great batsmen, and are a deserving number one side but they are not as far ahead of the others as some would believe.
As a S.African, I can't wait for the series between SA and Oz to begin. I do rate the Aussie pace attack highly, however I wonder how they will do on tracks that don't assist their bowlers such as the one we recently played on in Durban? The other issue I have with them is their top order batting. There were a few collapses in the recent Ashes series that went unnoticed in the euphoria of victory. SA is noted for being a tough place to bat, i.e. at the Wanders. They'll need to improve their top order batting if they want to compete there. I think they're a more than decent side, however as a biased saffer, I think we will have too much for you at home, this time. Just my opinion though.
I think said will win, but if any team is going to beat said in said it will be Australia.
Ugh, phone keypad fail. Please read said as sa.
I don't think they are far ahead of most teams but Australia before this ashes series was behind England and Pakistan. I just don't want people to suddenly think Australia are world beaters after this whitewash against a woeful England side at home. SA has beaten both these teams away from home recently.

It's been a while 94/95 although we have not played the Aussies at home much after. Mainly neutral venues like UAE and England.
Fasheezy how on earth can u rate Pakistan as better than Australia? This is their best chance to beat Australia in 20 years and even on dusty pitches in uae they are guaranteed a win. Surely you can see that Australia was in fact massively under performing this last few years.
The team was regularly losing series due to poor mental strength, losing the key moments, especially in recent series against sa. I think boof has made a massive difference. I may be getting carried away, but just as India have started to look better recently I think Australia may be on an upward trajectory.
I'm not meaning to have a go at Pakistan, they have the best spin bowler are their spacemen are good but their batting is even more brittle than aus right now and while I can easily imagine Pakistan winning the series I expect aus to triumph.
But they were higher in the rankings then Australia until this ashes series. Australia were not underperforming they were just playing against better sides.
You overrate this Australian team big time.
I don't think you know what you are talking about. By this logic Australia were inferior to England and wouldn't have been able to win 5-0. Fact is aus could easily have won there last 2 series against south Africa and have only lost one test to Pakistan in the last 18 years.
You were claiming that Pakistan are useless and I just showed you that they were ranked higher then oz. You are the one that has no idea what they are talking about. And you keep talking about the last time oz played in SA. Who in those 2 series will be in SA next month? Stop living in the past, the teams have changed and SA has a much better team than oz, whether you like it or not, it's fact.
Stop strawmanning. Where did I say Pakistan were useless? How on earth is saying aus are better than pak but worse than sa an overestimation? A large number of the aus team will be the same and a few of the players are improved. Sa are not so much better aus will have no chance to win.
Were ranked higher than oz? So now aus r ranked higher the rankings don't matter? The rankings are not the be all and end all or have you not been paying attention these last 2 months. I'll give you a hint, England had a higher ranking than aus.
