Having the refs on your side is the main difference. I know you will argue against it but look at today, loads of decisions going your way, whereas wer tend to get them against us. Its enough to make the difference in games and the extra pose4ssion it gives is normally very influencial. In most of the games we didnt get the results last seasonm the ref was the biggest factor. For example the ref in the Newcastle game was so biased in the second half he gave them the draw; against Sunderland we had a definite penalty not given and a perfectly good goal ruled out incorrectly for offside. There is only so many times a team can overcome this and its always at pivotal points in the season.

I'd love ot see how Man U compete if everyone got the right decisions given. Look at today, there are already articles on here about how the ref favoured you. Its getting to the point I'll give up with football soon as there’s no point in paying to watch a game that is corrupt to its core.

Even if referees favour United then that extra, say, 5% doesn't account for the consistent success achieved by SAF and the consistent lack of (ultimate) success achieved by AW.

My view is that he is hampered by finances at Arsenal but also the thing that he inherited at the club (i.e. the best defence in the league) is gone and the thing he brought (i.e. continental training and health methods, and worldwide scouting) has been replicated by everyone else.

It seems clear that AW doesn't have whatever it takes to overcome the above. Whether there is anyone else out there who could do better is a moot point. Dein may be right on this matter, but it does seem - some 10-15 years down the line - that AW is no SAF and probably no JM either.
