Must have been before the recent games and Webb probably knew the result and so was arrogant and sloppy in his handling. This always happens after you receive an award - except the worst ref's award obviously.
Remember, Webb was the referee in the the best game a referee can get, The World Cup Final in 2010.
I laughed heartily as he made an utter pigs ear of it.
I don’t like the way he referees, even when he’s not reffing us.
He looks the part, because he’s perfected the Mussolini body-language, but I think he only ikes to give big decisions to the home team. If it’s the away team, he completely bottles it, (disguised by the master-of-the-universe body-language)
Also, I prefer refs who are instinctive, (eg. those that can distinguish between a tackle that ticks all the boxes for ‘dangerous’, and a tackle that is genuinely dangerous).
Webb’s a ref-by-numbers man, he referees like Rain Man.
I don’t understand why he’s so highly-rated, he’s a TV ref, keen to be liked by the ‘big-name’ managers, and he made an utter balls-up of that WC final.

He got it spot on in the World Cup Final.
He correctly ejected Heitinga in extra time and made the right call by not ejecting De Jong for kicking Xabi Alonso.
While De Jong's challenge may have technically been a red card offence, it would have needlessly destroyed the game. It wouldn't have been worth it - for an inconsequential foul in the middle of the field.
It may have been 'unjust' but it was 'Best for Business'.
"an inconsequential foul "
so you can kick f+++ out somebody in the first 20 mins then

SM Are you Triple H? Didn't know you were a football sorry soccer fan Webb bottled the final should of been a red card to the letter of the law. He always plays advantage of the home team

God knows what happened there.
He planted his studs firmly in the chest of an opposition player. Irrespective of he field position or the minutes of the clock, that's a red card.
More importantly it set the tone for the final. Holland continued with the ridiculous tactic of kicking the proverbial out of Spain and they would have been punished properly if the ref had a pair of stones.
Webb's refereeing of our game against Chelsea was probably of the poorest standard Ive seen this season. That tackle on Hendo, the lack of any action, either by Webb or the F All retrospectively was shocking. I've yet to speak to a Chelsea fan who disagrees that should have been a red card, AND the tackle on Luis, late in the match was not a penalty. And we are supposed to get behind the ref? Get real.

The Eto'o trip on Suarez was never a penalty.
Firstly, the contact was minimal & hardly merited a foul in itself. Secondly, and more importantly, the ball was gone, so the incident wasn't remotely worth gifting LFC a goal. Webb did the right thing.

Fans will back their team. Liverpool fans will say its a stonewall penalty, Chelsea fans will say not. Neutral fans are probably best placed to consider this, I'll leave you to find the general neutral view on the incident.
So, the 'tackle' on Henderson Sinister Minister, would you defend the ref on that decision?

I actually am a neutral in this debate. I don't support any EPL team (certainly neither CFC or LFC) but am sympathetic to City & Arsenal because they play the most attractive football.
Regarding this tackle on Henderson, I honestly don't know what you're referring to. I didn't watch 100% of the game but the two most controversial incidents I recall were the Suarez & Hazard penalty claims - neither of which should have been a PK.

It's another really bad challenge that happened early in the game so Webb let it go. De Jong shouldn't have got away with it and neither should Etoo.
Not saying Liverpool would have won if he'd got a red, Chelsea were the better team on the day, but we certainty would have stood a better chance against 10 men.
