Edin

It's just CM mate.

I keep saying it but formations all depend on the tactics that go with them.

On chronic's I'm guessing he'd push Dembele further forward to help out in the attacking third more than he did when AVB played the possession tactics

Would you call Jenas a DM?
-------

Did Jenas have any physicality? Could he win the ball back in the middle?

No and No... So Jenas was never a DM.

On the other hand. Jenas created chances. Jenas got in the oppo box. Jenas scored goals

So Jenas was a CM.

Does Dembele do any of that??

No and no... So Dembele is not a CM. He's a DM imo.

PS A DM is a CM
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Jenas was very athletic, maybe not as strong but had the stamina and pace to be a DM.

Dembele creates plenty of chances as well, he just seems too measured in his approach.

I would say either could do a job in either the DM or CM positon.

PS the PS was pointless

Also, the advantages of having a 'DM' at home is that it causes more creative freedom for the other midfield partner to go forward and attack.

I remember Mancini getting slated when City were losing and he brought on a DM. However this gave Yaya a chance to attack more and they often won games through Yaya as a result.

Having Capoue in the team, would help benefit as Dembele could go forward as he pleased. Unlike when Bentaleb is on the pitch and it looks like neither are sure who should go forward/stay back.

There is a bit of a MEH feel about the club.....for ME.

And yes chron.....pulis will get them well set up and disciplined....and just read on ssn that cam Jerome is back for them....

So that has all the makings of a Piff player have his #standard against spurs worldy game......

Or we could play Dembele/Capoue as the DM and allow someone with far more ability and natural creativity or goal threat to have the freedom to get forward as he pleases

Dembele creates chances On what planet

PS the PS was a joke

Junction it will be Jerome and their keeper who will have worldy's and look like they can play for Brazil

Pulis has read the manual on how to play Spurs at WHL. We are in for a rough ride tomorrow guys

Dembele creates chances on this planet. Maybe watch him when he plays at the weekend?

PS I know the PS was a joke, I am not allowed to retort?

I happen to like Dembele and I watch every game... He creates next to nothing. He has like one assist this season and definitely doesn't provide the assist before the assist. So I don't know where you're coming from with this.

I would like Dembele to be the all round box to box CM that say Ramirez is but he's just not turned out to be that sort of player... However, I live in hope

Do you happen to have any stats on his chances created?? If so, I'm pretty sure Scotty Parker surpasses him in that category

Dembele definitely creates chances, no doubt. This season alone I remember chances like the through ball to JD vs Chelsea, a multitude of other killer passes in the Europa, etc.

His issue is that he is a lot more measure with his play and thus the chances he creates are far more sporadic.

He certainly is no Modric, Eriksen, Paulinho etc, however to say he doesnt create chances is a gross exaggeration.

Dont be fooled to think that just because Demeble is physically strong he is a DM.

he should get more goals. In a 442 I doubt he will as the 2 CMs have greater defensive responsibility. In a 433 AVB had him sitting deeper with Paulinho the advanced one, but a more expansive 433 could see him get forward more.

Sometimes he has been deployed as the tough man in midfield and at home to Palace you could argue we dont need a Sandro/Capoue type player as Palace will park-up and offer little threat.

I like him, but much like Jenas, he shows us every now and then what he is capable of before then reverting back to being a bit ordinary.

Sherwood says Lamela still doubtful, but seemed very positive about his future here

Ginger beard man. How is dembele a dm?

What kind of dm's best attribute is to ghost past people like they are not even there?

The guy is a pure cm. with a view to attack rather than defend

Kent, what did Sherwood basically say about Lamela? You got a link? I'm disappointed he's still not fit tommorow could of been a perfect game to make his mark

Still don't Agree with this " taking time with him" bulls. Hit but atleast Sherwood is very positive in regards to Erik

Have to attack them early with some proper tempo to it! Can't allow them to park the bus/set up camp in their own penalty box. As much as Liverpool get mocked on these boards you only need to look at many of their games which they've basically won by half time.
