Listening to Chick Young on Radio Scotland it seemed like an emotional day at Ibrox today when remembering Ian Redford and supporting Fernando Ricksen was more important than picking up 3 points, which you duly did anyway.
Respect to Rangers for not forgetting your heroes
One of the saddest moments I've seen in football.
Very sad. All the best Fernando
Fernando.
One of my personal favourites, who gave the Club his all every time he stepped on the pitch. Not only was he hardworking, but he was also a very talented player. A tad reckless at times, but that aside his abilities were pretty unquestionable in my opinion. The season he played with Ferguson and Arteta was arguably the last good footballing side we had, in terms of style, but that's for another thread. Also, he was a character, yes he done some questionable things, but compared to the players we have in the game nowadays, people like him can add that wee "spark". All the best Fernando, if only we had someone of your ilk playing for us these days.
That's awesome. Hard not to feel emotional at that. Well done Rangers fans
Well done to Fernando for doing that and for the Rangers fans for the reception. It was obvious how choked he was and it was a little bit hard to watch but I hope overall he cherished the experience. I feel that if Scotland were playing Holland at Hampden and he was introduced at half time then he would have got a similar reception from 99% of the fans. Humanity in most people always comes before personal prejudices. I only hope he can survive to be with his family and friends for as long as possible. I guess it's a difficult disease to understand and he looked better than he did when he was on Dutch TV when his situation was announced. I know that is most likely due to him having one of his good days but hopefully his immediate future is all good days. All the best Fernando and thanks for all your efforts and memories during your time at Rangers.
Heartbreaking to watch that back.
Thanks for the memories Fernando - keep on fighting.
Bring a tear to a glass eye.
Scary to see someone who was such a warrior on the pitch not long ago now looking so frail.
Keep up the fight Nando
A great show off support by Gers fans for Fernando
He was always a bit of a character and strangely one player I liked (probably because of that and the fact he was actually pretty good)
All the best to him in this difficult time, hopefully his illness isn't too aggressive.
