The biggest farce is FIFA extending the deadline so people can factor in the World Cup playoffs in their voting.

You think it's a farce that FIFA have extended the deadline of a player of the YEAR competition so people can have more of the YEAR to judge said player on?
The voting system should systematically close when Messi gets injured
why should the world cup playoffs not count. if anything it would be a farce to not count part of the year
---------------------------------
Totally agree.
Pretty sure they extended the deadline after those playoff games. Surely they knew when those games were scheduled and could have set the deadline accordingly beforehand?
So basically you're saying you don't think that games in 2013 should effect people's judgement of the best player in 2013?
Why is that a farce? The award is for best player of 2013, the vote really should be made on Jan 1st. The award isn't for best player from Jan 1st - Nov 15th is it?

No, I'm saying they should have set the deadline accordingly beforehand instead of changing it at the last minute.
Im always amazed at people who can translate in real time.
That doesn't make it a farce though does it. If anything extending the deadline has made the award fairer.

Some of you are missing the point that OP was trying to convey. I believe his reaction is a response to the naming of the FIFA team of the year that included the likes of Alves, Iniesta and Xavi ahead of Alaba, Robben and Bastian
That's irrelevant it's a competition based off 1 calendar year so it shouldn't be a farce if more games of that calendar year get to be included in the judging

The Anti Fifa / Balon d'or stance is such a British line to take. We really need to be a bit more humble and classy sometimes.

I think you are completely missing the point actually. We are disagreeing with Lion-el King IV's comment that the awards are farcical because they extended the voting process.
