far too early to make such bold predictions of winning the league, 60 more points to play for yet!!!!!!!!!!!!
In a great position though and looking good....so far!!

Nah I disagree, I've played at a decent level and played for three teams that have won leagues and from experience once you have that belief in the dressing room that you're the best team in the league the rest of the season is just fun.

We weren't complacent in League 1 and I don't expect us to be for the rest of the season. We wil get beaten again I'm sure but for me we're just going to get better. I would be surprised if we let this slip now but purely my opinion.

We know how to win games,

I'm not confident. Last week was excellent. Yesterday was the template for how to beat us, with better finishing Leeds would have won.

I'm heartened that we came away from a tough game with 3 points, but I'll only be truly happy when we're 10 points clear with 3 games to go!

We've been the best team recently, but whether it's by far is debatable at best. However, the point you make about the players believing that is key. I said in December that the belief had gone a bit. We caved in to Brighton, then were better than Burnley at gome but didn't have the swagger to see them off. Grinding out a fortuitous at QPR, however, seems to have galvanised the team, to the point where they were able to come back from so many blows against Bolton and then send out a serious message against Derby. We've managed to regain that belief - the single thing we failed to do last season.

We ain't the best team in the division by some distance at all Arro. Maybe after the Derby performance I could see why someone would put that but after yesterday?!

Same goes for Alan Young yesterday with his 'we won't be beaten again this season' nonsense. What is the point of saying that? It clearly isn't going to happen it just creates unnecessary pressure.

If we lose next week and Burnley win we are just 3 points above third with nearly 20 games to go. There is a long long way to go.

Until we are mathematically promoted I won't be able to relax-this is Leicester, we never, ever, do it the easy way!

The league is a bit different this year. With the points we are on we'd have been well clear last season but despite this great run of wins, we are only a bad week from third place.

Long way to go.

As for stability, I'm delighted Pearson has been given the opportunity to build something but the "reward" is promotion.

He's done a brilliant job so far, playing great football, grinding out results when necessary and added much needed experience to the squad to complement the young lads.

Let's hope we can see it through this time.

The only measure that matters, the league table, tells me that we have been the best team in the division, so far, so I'm prepared to believe it.

But to think that we've got anything cracked with 20 games to go is a nonsense. A squad, almost identical to our current one, had a collapse in form very near this time last year.

The points we've already accumulated make a last game of the season dash for the playoffs unlikely, but automatic is still a long way off.

I expect us to beat Boro next weekend as we are at home, and with qpr and burnley not playing we have the chance to open up a bigger gap, yes they will have a game in hand but points on the board is much better!
The following 2 away games against brum n Bournemouth will be a test, 4 points or even 3 will be a decent return.

By all means compare last seasons squad, yes we capitulated but this isn't the same team. Last season, invariably when we played well we won (Cardiff at home being one big exception) but if we didn't turn up we lost. Both Millwall and Leeds beat us last season and admittedly we didn't play well in either game but we still won. We would also have lost the Bolton game but we came from behind twice to win.

This run has shaped our season in my opinion, I think the mentality of the players has transformed from promotion contenders to title winners. I've been there and once you have that belief you keep winning. Whether we as fans think we're the best, you find one City player that in that dressing room doesn't belie they are? None I bet, that's the difference.

Yes a long long way to go but Pearson has experience of winning a league with us, why should the close of this season end any differently?

We will have some poor games and some disappointing results (I've got a bad feeling about Bournemouth) but we've shown we can bounce back from defeats and I just see us getting stronger not weaker.

I guess we'll see if I'm right in May

I do believe this is our year, it's like a "perfect storm" for promotion.

Wolves fan here

Firstly, congratulations on your current run of form, looks good for you this season.

Sky Sports suggest we are after Jeffrey Schlupp. Unclear whether it would be a loan or permanent deal.

Most wolves fans know little about him other than what can be found online. We are looking to improve our forward line but there is confusion over possible positions with Schlupp playing as a left back.

My feeling is that he would only come to us if we guaranteed him matches as a striker every week, which he seems to prefer.

Few questions...

Do you need him?
How good is he?
Best position?

Thanks

Where do we start with Jeff Schlupp...?

The first thing you need to know is that the Yeovil announcer consistently pronounces his nane "Shloop", cue hilarity all round.

Seriously though, he's traditionally a centre forward but has flattered to deceive there. He's got a lot of good assets there, but his awareness of the game is severely lacking. He could do well as a striker in League 1 though, and he has scored goals there before.
He's actually been a lot better as our reserve left wing back (!) and my belief is that this is where he should make his career as he'd be able to make a career at a higher level.

If you're interested, I'd assume that it'd be as a striker, and he'd probably be about 6th choice for us in that position at the minute. If he does want to progress as s striker, a move like this would be good for him and I reckon you'd get a very good player for League 1. From our view, I'd prefer a loan with a very fast recall in case something happens to Konchesky, but maybe with the option of a permanent purchase if we do go up. That would probably be a good deal all round.

Schlupp was a very promising player when he broke into the side. It seemed only a matter of time before he developed but, unfortunately he hasn't.

I think because of this slow development he was switched to left back and he's done reasonably well there. My problem with him now is that I think he's stopped improving as he's not fixed in one position. I wouldn't completely write off his chances as a striker, which I think he prefers, but I would sooner he worked on his positional sense and realise his potential at LB.

At the moment his versatility is making him jack of all trades, but master of none.

Wolves converted Stephen Ward from striker to left back, where he still plays for Brighton, so we can relate.

Spot on with the phrase Jack of all trades, master of none. Ward had his moments - winner at Anfield against Liverpool.

inevitably we grew an average player who will fall by the wayside once better players come in, which you will do on promotion

Jeffrey Schlupp is as much a left back as I am a cat. He gets played there because there isn't adequate cover and he causes problems going forward, but his defensive qualities are poor.

The big problem with Schlupp is that we don't really know his best position and having to cover as LB has hindered rather than help. Enough game time as a striker may have developed him

He has great pace, a potential to be a good finisher but still needs lots of chances. I hope you loan him in a striker role and give him games and confidence because he is a real talent

I have to say, I'm feeling quite smug about the situation. As regular posters will know, I have always been a Pearson fan and I now feel he has proven most if not all the doubters wrong.

Pearson is a good manager. Go on JG and Foxello, let me hear you say it

However, what I'm not smug about is promotion. Nothing is being close to being guaranteed, and this is Leicester, we don't do "easy". Expect plenty more twists and turns to come, but no doubting it's looking good.

I've said it before and I will again, even if we just miss out this year, I'd give Pearson 2 more years. There's no point in dismantling a team almost good enough for promotion. It's too much of a risk. Pearson has proven he can weed out the deadwood from a side and build a team.

Who here wants Bamba, Mills, Beckford back now over Wes, Moore and Vardy? Only fools I would suggest!

Let's hope Pearson can keep us going.

On the Schlupp question - I think a loan move to Wolves is good for all parties. If you want a left back that will year up league 1, he's your man. If you want a striker who will be more than competent in that league, he's also your man. Hopefully he'll get game time and come back to us with more experience and more ready. My view, he'd be a good signing for you.

If he was on the bench yesterday he may of replaced Konch whom was having an off day.Nige will not use him upfront, as he will be 6th chioce.I liked Dunge's comment.... let him go as a striker with a quick release for cover for Konch.

Merseyside, I still pine for Bamba. Name me another centre back who was worth the entrance fee alone.

As a footnote to the Schlupp loan deal – I noticed that Bakayogo was injured (knee) and subbed on his loan debut with Yeovil yesterday. If that proves to be serious, would NP really want to loan out our only other cover at LB, even with a release clause?

posted on 19/1/14

I don't think Bakayogo can be seriously considered cover for anywhere if his outing against Derby was anything to go by. Good luck to him, but I was surprised Yeovil took him on loan because they can do better.

If anyone's being thought of as reserve left back, at least for a match or so, it may be Miquel.
