For standing up for their football club and refusing to be bullied by sponsors.

WBA

Some clubs may have bowed to pressure but WBA have told them where to stick it

Thanks for your support Serial....

The last thing we need is creating any precedent whereby any sponsor dictates who we can and cannot play. Personally, I think the whole affair is making a mountain out of a molehill as I bet over 90% of the population wouldn't have a clue about the supposed gesture.

Good ridance I say.

Being a Chelsea fan I'll always stick up for Anelka anyway but this seems a bit of a publicity stunt from Zoopla to me. With the deal set to run out in the summer anyway there was no guarantee WBA would even renew it with the company!

some bull "salute" that noone has ever heard of. I dont believ for one second he was being anti semetic and i dont believe the salute is AS either. Once again a huge mountain is being made out of absolutely nothing. I would love it if he did the blackpower salute if he ever scores

the level of ignorance displayed by most of you in these messages is sad.

Do you not understand its meaning?

Do you not understand that it is absolutely and unconditionally unacceptable?

Anelka is a tool and has brought the club into total disrepute with this gesture, however I applaud West Brom in the stance that they have taken with their sponsors.

Unfortunately, having lost a sponsor, it may be difficult to get another sponsor on-board in the short term if the Club does not take action over Anelka.

It is still lazy journalism though. They are hardly "pulling" their sponsorship though.

The contract is up at the end of the season and they have chosen not to renew.

OK the Anelka gesture helped their decision not to renew but they have not withdrawn anything because of it.

Jump off the bandwagon. Bet you had no idea it had a meaning before the west ham game.

There's a world of difference between being anti-Semitic and being anti-Zionist. Well done, Anelka, for standing up to these racist bullies.
I will definitely not be touching any of Zoopla's services.

Really Cyp? The club is in total disrepute? I think that's you with your Wolverhampton Wanderers spectacles on.
Albion did take action but you obviously missed that.

At the end of the day this is just some guy (probably not the most well-balanced) doing something ever-so-slightly stupid (I freely admit I've done worse) that would have gone unnoticed and/or not understood by 95%+ of the watching population.

The deal with Zoopla expires at the end of the season - Zoopla might be genuine but just as, if not more, likely they thought they'd make a bit of publicity whilst looking like the good guys.

The words 'mountain' and 'molehill' spring to mind.

Any chance we can get back to football some time soon?

I'll stick with rightmove. Zoopla can feck right off. Never buy any zionist product. Boycott Israel and support the International Solidarity Movement.

And (from a related thread, now closed to for comments)

In support of Anelka, the right of strikers everywhere to celebrate their goals in any manner they see fit (see footnote) and anti-Zionists . . . but definitely anti-Semites . . . that would just be plain wrong.

Footnote:

I once celebrated a goal (overhead kick from outside the box, worldy) by setting fire to my neighbour's cat . . . if Sepp Blatter is reading this he'll be wanting all cats fitted with smoke detectors . . . a kind of feline version of goalline technology . . . anyway, he deserved it . . . he was ginger . . . that's the neighbour, not the cat . . . the cat was black and white so no one could accuse him of being racist . . . although I did once spot him crossing his front paws in a very suspicious gesture while glaring menacingly at a blackbird . . . and I don't mean Naomi Campbell.

mandingo: Spot on. Certain radical Jews and their friends in the pro-Israel media are deliberately trying to confuse anti-Semitism with anti-Zionism.

Like cancer, the infection of zionism is still spreading inthe west bank and Al Quds. Like cancer it should be cut off and removed.

Who is "you"?

West bank should be free of any cancerous sc.um proclaiming it their god given land.

Europe slaughtered the jews; palestinians are paying the price.
