"I am surprised. Juan Mata is a great player and they sell a great player to a direct opponent," Wenger said.

Is he on the wind up with this quote?

It's unbelievable from Wenger. RVP? Nasri? Adebayor?

Mata didn't play in either game against United, or against Arsenal.

what's the Mata with this man? does he think he is the only Juan who can sell his best players to rivals?

Imagine if Mata scores the winner at the Emirates.

How funny would it be, if United beat Arsenal 1-0, thanks to a Mata goal.

Some Arsenal fans are worried that Mata, RVP and Rooney will run riot at the Emirates

It's this sort of comment that contributes to the feeling that Wenger, for all his numerous talents as a manager, doesn't have that contagious air of a winner that Fergie has. And Moyes.

Seriously, though, what psychological good does that do? He is basically telling the world that he feels the piece of business strengthens Chelsea and United vis-a-vis Arsenal, that he fears Mata will help us take points off them. Why would he say something that negative?

It'll be just moyeses luck if mata steps out of the helicopter and has his head sliced off in some "dawn of the dead" type accident.

I don't understand why you all are getting emotional about a comment from Wenger, he was asked a question, answered it, said what a lot of 606's was saying yesterday, (that CFC are being tactital with this sale) and he's embarrasing. Are you lot really trying to laugh at Wenger considering last nights result, and the many more before that.

To be fair I sort of see what he's saying, Chelsea have been very clever here... The chances of United making a title challenge now are pretty slim, but Mata will increase the chances of United chipping points off Chelsea's title rivals, namely ourselves and Arsenal.

I'd put money on the fact that this deal wouldn't be being wrapped up today were the Chelsea v United game at Stamford Bridge actually this Sunday.
