Of course he did with those resources. Mancini outperformed him too in the last few seasons.

I really don't think Mourinho would have succeeded at Arsenal. Frankly, I don't think any of our fans even want him at the club and understandably so.

That's because arsenal are losers and mourinho is a winner

If Mourinho was at Arsenal, you would not be trophyless for almost adecade

He might have won a cup, but could he have kept Arsenal in the top 4 against teams like Fergie's Utd and the resources of Chelsea and Man City.

Whether you like to admit it or not, you get more money for qualifying from the group stage in the Champions League than winning the FA Cup and League Cup (combined). It doesn't excuse us bottling it over the years and our financial prudence taking priority over the purpose of competition, but we have needed the money to serve certain debts for long term financial stability.

I'm not saying I agree with it or the way we've done it, but I can understand why we've taken that approach. Wenger understands the importance of continuity, but when the clubs with more financial resources than us came in, it was always going to be hard to keep our star players (although I do feel we should have made more of an effort with RvP). If we were capable of keeping Nasri, Fabregas and van Persie, we could be singing a different tune, but it wasn't to be. Personally, I feel Wenger put too much faith in the wrong types of players, but that's another story.

In spite of this, we have still had 3 cup finals in the last 8 years which is decent enough I guess. It was a shame not to win any of them, but no-one has any divine right to win a competition.

This season and next season will show whether Arsenal's strategy will help to keep us competitive for the long haul or whether it was all a bunch of nonsense that the fans fell for. It's make or break time.

As for chronic, I really find it funny that a Tottenham Hotspur fan is labelling Arsenal as 'losers'. I'm sorry, but you guys haven't achieved anything notorious for over 20 years so you are in no position to mock us really

well you are losers. almost a decade no trophy despite being one of the biggest and richest clubs in the world.

bottle it every single year.

celebrate like winning the champions league after coming a point above lil old spurs.

cant win a proper trophy so wenger invents the 4th place trophy.

face it - you are just losers

Are you suggesting Mourinho would've stayed at Arsenal for a decade?

Rather undermines your argument if you are...

loser lex.

I don't like mourinho or Chelsea but the very fact is that they are successful, and you are not

how many goes in a row have you had at the CL? and you have only gotten to one final

This.

Plus factor in the spunking new £150m sponsorship deal with Puma... doubt they consider seeing their brand in the CL season after season a failure.

So what if the line between success and financial reward has been broken. That's hardly Arsenal's fault.

Chronic is quite clearly a handicap.

One would think the clown would scurry off into his little burrow what with his garbage team playing well garbage. But no. The idiot's talking down other teams. Even worse, the team that's top of the table.

So you think that Mourinho would've stayed at Arsenal for a decade then, Chronic?

What precedent has he previously set for you to leap to that conclusion?

Genuinely interested to read your answer here...

its not hard to talk down arsenal though is it. you are a joke. a worldwide laughing stock. almost a decade no trophy while your manager mugs you off for 6 mill (soon to be 8mill) per year.

a big rich club like you, achieving fack all on the pitch year in year out

at no other big club in the world, would a manager last 9 seasons after failing in every single one.

as usual, chronic speaks pure sense

he would win a trophy inside to seasons maximum with what old arsene has at his disposal.

just face it - arsene has very little credibility, and has failed for almost a decade now

all about net spend isn't it though lex. whats the point in assembling a squad worth a billion if you sell players worth a billion.

and what about wages.

your wage bill is 50 mill PER YEAR higher than ours, and you celebrate like winning the world cup after coming a point higher

But you do or don't think Mourinho would stay at Arsenal, or indeed ANY club, for a decade, Chronic?

A lot of big earners off our books last summer, whilst you took on a lot of players that, as you're not in the CL, would've come for the money.

Your wage bill will have gone through the roof this season

-----------

I doubt it. especially not arsenal - far too successful for underachieving arsenal

why cant you just admit that almost a decade no trophy for a club as big as arsenal is a gross underachievement, and your manager is a disgrace to milk the wages he does while you all pay the highest prices in the world to watch you manager make up trophies to pretend he is successful

well no.

Gallas and Bale off the wages. two of the higher earners. Huddlestone and BAE two middle earners off too.

I doubt one single player that has come in will be on more than 65k a week... therefore its probably pretty much as you were.
