Surely wenger won't be splashing out in jan, that would make him a hypocrite wouldn't it?

Balotelli is, Bendtner isn't.

Yeah Cabaye isn't a £20m player. Pocket change to PSG, though.

Wenger is very particular about how he spends his money and I don't think he sees value in the market, top strikers are rarely sold in January and if they are it is as hyper-inflated prices. What he could have targeted however is a stop-gap signing until the summer, but who are they going to get that's actually better than Giroud?

The transfer market seems so simplistic to outsiders but wrong decisions can set your club back as you may end up with players taking up wages. Fans do not like to go through windows without signing anyone, as much as United wasted so much money on Fellaini, I'm quite sure the fans would have been even angrier if the window shut and they had signed nobody!

No because he has always been against the January transfer window and it would be stupid not to take advantage of it. Of course it goes over your head. Talking of hypcorites we can list the things your great manager Fergie did but we would be here all day

Arsene Wenger is a fool
====

Haven't you been singing his praises this season?

In any case, it has been frustrating not bringing in another striker. But who is out there that we could have got? Bony? Swansea won't sell so late on and he is their only fit striker. N'Gog was a clear panic buy. Remy? With that court case still hanging over his head, I don't think we'd take the risk yet.

If we want an upgrade on what we have, we have to wait till the Summer, which was always going to be the case. I would have liked Morata on loan or even Draxler, but neither are happening, so there's really no-one else.

We should have sorted this out in the Summer, but for the time being, we just have to make do with what we've got.

What has Bony done that makes him good enough for Arsenal anyway?

I doubt that very much.

I did tell you Darren in the summer that Fellaini would be the best you lot do in the transfer market and you all laughed at me.

posted on 27/1/14

In the heat of the moment Darren, there were a few people happy as soon as Fellaini signed because a lot of football fans just want to sign players.

It would have looked really bad if you went the whole summer and signed no one. As bad as the Fellaini signing was in the way it was handled, not even his harshest critics could have expected him to be as bad as he has been.

Of course he is. A classy man and manager. Stuck to his beliefs and now is getting benefits of it.

Oh come on Darren, most of the Man U fans I spoke to thought Fellaini would be great signing. The sensible ones on here thought the opposite though.

So let me get this right, he preaches from his soap box about how wrong the window is, but he's not averse to using to his advantage if need be.
You're right, he sticks to his beliefs alright.

No I agree.

RGK, you say a lot, people don't take much notice because it's just a case of the of if you throw enough shi.t....

Firstly, Fellaini hasn't proved a good or bad signing yet. You'd think Arsenal fans would know about giving signings time like they did with giroud, podolski and cazorla.

Anyway, despite the title of the op, I'm not a critic of Arsene. I'd gladly see you guys win the title this season but I just think Arsene is doing a foolish thing by not bringing in more depth to help your title charge because I don't think you'll have as good a chance to win the league again for a while.

Robb you have not named a realistic target who is both available and an improvement on Giroud, for Arsenal.

Some signings are easier said than done!

I wonder what logic hippoclown got to claim Valencia>Ribery

posted on 27/1/14

I'm not saying they need to be an improvement on giroud. I actually rate the guy. But if he gets injured you guys might want more than Bendtner to cover you.

Bring in Remy, Bony, Berbatov etc. They don't need to win the cl for you but they need to score goala against the stokes or the Sunderlands if giroud gets injured

posted on 27/1/14

Giroud never gets injured that is the beauty of it.

Arsenal should try and sign Vucinic.

I think they are more than covered for the smaller games because their midfield creates so much, I think where Giroud gets stick is because in the bigger games where chances can be few and far between he is not as clinical or as ruthless as he needs to be.

I did used to agree with you, only about three weeks ago, and I was tipping them to sign Remy, but having thought it through more I think it's a situation where you either get a top class striker or you're as well not spending?

Remy isn't available- think we had a debate on the legality of breaking a loan deal etc, I don't think Bony is good enough and Swansea will demand a ridiculous fee as they're in a relegation battle.
