nah zidane and the whole real Madrid scu.mmy PR machine was working to get bale. including modric. infact it wouldn't surprise me if half the reason they wanted modric was to eventually tempt bale along with him later.
There were first person quotes from Modric. Arguably they could have been made up but when they're quotes purportedly from the players themselves you give them a bit more credence.
Regarding the Madrid PR machine, couldn't Modric has just said "No, get someone else to do it"?
Thought it was Spurs policy to keep silent no matter what the media attention gone their way?
Modric did state himself that he wanted to leave Spurs. Up until he said it himself I had written off all the news as tabloid rubbish.
I think quotes came from him when he was on international duty Edin, if I remember correctly.
‘I want to leave Tottenham as friends. I have enjoyed my time there, but now it is right for me to look at another club.
'I have an arrangement with the chairman. When I signed my new contract, he said that, if another club came to sign me, they would consider the offer.
Was that him? I swear the only comments I remember where made by his agent.
Could easily be wrong though.
