Gardner makes more sense. Can fill variety of positions - midfield and full-back. Very much a #wba type of player

Just a slightly better version of Steven Reid
slow as feck too.

Why would he want to miss out on the COC Final too?

how does he fit in with Mels passing philosophy?

Suppose he's a long term Steven Reid replacement with his contract running out in the summer.

but still, if Billy Jones gets injured even next season, Gardners going to get done for pace if he's selected there.

Hope it doesn't happen.

Faster than Reid, I'll give him that.

Can someone tell Gardners agent to fk off we don't want him. Every flipping transfer window.

Off for the night.

Hope the window looks more promising when I get back.

Take it it's gone all quiet?

Just got in so will be on the net and watching SSN.

Totally underwhelmed with the linked players so far and staggered we're not getting a LB.

@smadeley_star: Interesting that one Italian website claims Albion made another (unsuccessful) enquiry about Fabio Quagliarella earlier this week. #wba

what a player.

Juve have just signed Osvaldo though, I think?

Quag is going to Inter > no chance

@smadeley_star: Italian press reckon Quagliarella could now be Inter Milan-bound. #wba

@StevenWBA: If anybody is to join #wba tonight aside from Bifouma, Gardner is certainly most likely. And for me, Albion need to push that one through.

Someone convince me that Theivey guy is a decent addition.

His record in Spanish lower leagues is poor. Doesn't even hold weight to Vydra's record in the 2nd division. May be a gem, but too similar to Bera/Vydra it sounds like. And have I just read he is allowed to leave for getting in trouble. Just what we need...who would take the Odem/Anelka mantle.

We don't need a MF but it's one or the other then Hoolahan over CG. Sunderland fans are delighted CG may be leaving, they've never liked him. Slow as hell. The 'versatile' argument doesn't wash with me either as he's average at best when asked to cover RB.

@smadeley_star: Sunderland tell Sky no more outgoings today. Poyet also insisted Gardner was going nowhere at his pre-match press conference. #wba

Thank God

Looks like just that Bouffy dude.

Thank You JH. Relief. I really was thinking as abysmal as this transfer window has been I would be delighted for it to shut before we could get Gardner in.

Getting slightly concerned with our scouting system. We used to look for gems from the continent. Now we are looking at players who struggle to get games at teams below us.

@chrislepkowski: Hearing the Thievy deal is close to being done. Not sure on terms as yet #wba

Meh...

I think Thievy will be used as a winger either on the left or the right rather than as a main striker. Pepe Mel likes playing with 2 quick wingers so Thievy offers that along with Sinclair and Berahino.

posted on 31/1/14

As for any disappointment with Thievy presumably signing, in the summer no one thought that Berahino would be used much and that he would probably go out on loan again. Look at how much he has surprised everyone this season and the impact that he made earlier in the season. Thievy could be the same and make a big impact for the rest of this season.

Could also be an El Ghanassy.

Risky either way.

If we had signed a couple of quality players on top of Bifouma it would be viewed differently. Our rivals though know where there problems are and are addressing them. We are stumbling along relying on unproven players to change our fortunes.

From what I've seen of Bifouma from those clips he looks lightning so thats at least something he will add compared to the rest of our wingers.

It's a punt.
